Tuomas Holopainen (keyboardist) is the band's primary creator, composer and lyricist. He uses 3 (sometimes 4) keyboards -- KORG Karma, Triton, N364 and Kronos. The "film scorey" part was actually him performing a solo. This is one of their best concerts (please react to any song from this show, such as Romanticide) but I wish they put more cameras on the keyboards. THANK YOU for watching the entire performance and reserving your thoughts until the end. This was a joy to watch. Thank you!

What?! I love knowing that that was a solo! YES! Now I've got to go back and listen to it again. More cameras on the keyboards! Equal rights for keyboards! @ronaldboers80615 жыл бұрын
The music is called symphonic metal and i very populair in Europe and South America. The band is from Finland and founded 1996 . So far the band has had 3 vocalists 1 Tarja Turunen (Finish) pure opera voice also very good live. (until 2005) 2 Anette Olzon (Schwedish) more pop style. fine in the studio but not good live. (until 2012) 3 Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current) . * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she capable of. Band members Tuomas Holopainen (The keyboard player and creative mind behind the band. He writes about 95% of the music and lyrics) Marco Hietela (the viking with the long beard (Bass and vocals) Jukka "Julius" Nevalainen (The drummer) Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen (the hobbit like guitar player) Troy Donockley ( a person who did not play on this song but is a multi instrumentalist from the UK) The clip was shot a few months after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the worldtour a lot of what happened was recorded. The documentary is called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJmoqZ6jjLCAe7c ) As a next song to take a look at i would recommend their masterpiece "The poet and the pendulum" live at Wembley. Before you take a look at it i would recommend to take a look at the backstory of this song. This will make you appreciate it much more. here is the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZPRanqZr751odk BTW that last note she just sang? One of the best concert ever, PERIOD. Anything off this Wacken, 2013 set list will be amazing to react to. Beware though, Nightwish switches back and forth from Symphonic Metal to Ballads, Heavy Metal, Folk Metal, Hard Rock and even some Pop, which is only possible because Tuomas the keyboardist who writes, arranges and blends most of Nightwish's songs is a genius and he has Floor now who can sing anything he creates. She has done the ballads, the duets, the heavy metal, the symphonic metal, the folk metal, bluesy jazz and even pop. You are also correct about this band, you experience them not merely listen to them which is why you always go with a LIVE performance if available as Floor's power, range and stage presence along with the crowd make for a fantastic experience. Great reaction and waiting to the end was a very nice and different experience which made your reaction and evaluation even better.

Hello. Since this is your first reaction to Nightwish. I will give you a short history speech, "The Ann Waychoff" speech (a short / concentrated history of the band): Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now still is. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just saw her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. Symphonic metal really is a gem in the music world. It popped up in the 90's with bands like Nightwish, because Metal music had become more widespread in the 80's, but then in Finland and other parts of Europe the people who got into it were classically educated musicians, so it very rapidly mixed together with classical and folk music. That's also why it's such a popular genre in Finland, people just take the drums and the guitars and combine them with different styles. Nightwish really hit the jackpot with getting Floor as their singer, she is such an amazing singer. She can match her voice to anything in the music, and the people in this band can do _a lot_ with the music.

That's what makes a true singer and band. You feel it more than hear it. That's something that can't be taught. Came for the song Staid for the reaction An the floorgasm.

Ghost River (wacken 2013) and Song Of Myself (Wacken 2013). Everdream (wacken2013) If you do Poet And The Pendulum do the one with subtitles there's some things you'll likely miss otherwise.

Yes, this is actually very important! Lyrics are key to get into the many emotions of that song. A lot of things get lost if you don't have them on screen.

The orchestral part is pre-recorded and this was actually recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra who also did Lord Of The Rings and many other beautiful music. So it's not just the keyboards :)

As i have seen Nightwish live 3 times (all with Floor as singer), it is a complete outer body experience, and the fan are amazing to hang out with while enjoying the show.

Nightwish & Floor Jansen are a match made in heaven..Tuomas Holopainen (the keyboard player) is a genius and main songwriter, composer. I can’t explain how amazing this band is...pure class.

Excellent reaction. What I loved about this reaction is unlike other voice coaches, you didn’t stop the video to comment. You watched and enjoyed the performance then talked after it was over

Christi, you did a magnificent job in recapping and analyzing this song by Nightwish!!! You allowed the entire song to play through without stopping, restarting, and interrupting this song!!! YOU ARE AWESOME!!! The Very Best to you now and into the future!!! I AM A HUGE FAN!!!!!

I've been saying for a while that Floor Jansen is the female Dimash. They are the only two singers I know that use these different vocal qualities in the same song, changing at the drop of a hat very seamlessly.

You👏Need👏Your👏Own👏Channel👏, Rosannasfriend! (Who agrees with me?) You've got stuff to say to the world and they need to hear it. Do it! (Just a little pep talk from your bossy 'big sister'. 😘)

Those two metal singers are great, but do they go back and forth between classical and Pop within a millisecond, within a phrase? That's one thing that these two singers I mentioned to have in common.

I love the fact you let the song play without constantly pausing it to make comments, which could ruin the entire flow and feel of the piece. Your choice to discuss at the end and show clips of what you’re referring to is perfect. Well done! Hitting the sub button now.

Tuomas(keyboard) has said that he wants to have an orchestra in lives, but since he hasn't managed to do it some of the orchestra sounds are pre-recorded but most come from his keyboard. in lives he uses 2-3 keyboards

Symphonic Metal is a very popular genre in Sweden and Finland. If you like Nightwish check out their their compatriots: Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius or Swedish Hammerfall or Germanys Edguy and Avantasia. They have some incredible mind blowing songs.

i saw her LIVE - she is the METAL-MAIDEN - no female vocalist can touch her range! and her onstage presence is so HUGE - take into the fact she is 5-11 normal height so in heels like 6-2/6-3 - and she has an amazing figure! you cant take your eyes or ears off her :) great reaction!
@celestina265 жыл бұрын
I loved how you just watched the performance without interruptions and then you talked about it and showed the clips. That is the best format imho. Interrupting, or talking on top of the performance is wrong , because this way you lose parts that may be important, and also lose the immersion into the song. Well done! Subscribed! Oh! And long live NIGHTWISH! I 'd love to see more reactions from you.

What a great reaction Christi. I've seen many, but this is the first for a vocal reaction that didn't stop the video or comment throughout the song. I also really liked when you would comment about a certain part or aspect of Floor's voice you followed it with a video clip. I really enjoyed your comments and reactions. May I also add that you are quite beautiful with a lovely smile. I look forward to you reacting to other Nightwish songs and any from this 2013 Wacken open air concert would be great. Floor has such a beautiful powerful voice with such dynamic range that she has become my all time favorite singer. When I first saw this video of Floor's vocals I experienced goosebumps, chills, hair standing on end and just in awe of her voice. She even moved me to tears in a good way. Thank you Christi.

I was also grateful that you complimented the entire band on their musicianship. They truly are very talented musicians that put on a great performance. When you mentioned exploring more symphonic bands, I really don't know how many other symphonic metal bands there are, but Nightwish is my band of choice. In fact Nightwish is currently the band I would most like to see live. They will be touring in 2020 and if there are any in the USA, I most certainly will be making an effort to see them.

One thing of note... this song is recorded over an hour into that concert... it's near the end of their set... so this is after they've been playing at this level for over an hour. Amazing.

Great reaction!!! NIGHTWISH IS POSSIBLY THE BEST LIVE BAND ON THE PLANET!!! AND FLOOR JANSEN IS A METAL GODDESS!!! Nightwish fans are among the most loyal, enthusiastic, and engaged fans you will find. We love to share their music with others and we support others in our Nightwish community. The live versions are generally the most beloved so always try to react to a live version if possible. I would recommend reacting to these songs in this general order. But if you don't have the desire to react to this many Songs I put a star in front of the essentials... I hope you continue down this wonderful path of musical exploration. You have only scratched the surface of the splendors of nightwish. “Song of myself” live at Wacken 2015 “Everdream” live at Wacken 2013 “Romanticide” live at wacken 2013 “Storytime” live at Wacken 2013 "Sleeping sun" live at Tampere 2015 "Ghost River" live at Wacken 2013 "The islander" live at Tampere 2015 (Marco lead) * “The Poet and the Pendulum” live at Wembley 2015 (you have to pause this one regularly because of copyright issues) “Weak fatasy” live at Tampere 2015 "I wish I had an angel" live at Wacken 2013 "Shudder before the beautiful" live at Wembely 2015 "Kiss while your lips are still red" live at Wembely 2015 (Marco lead) “Yours is a empty hope” live Nightwish cruise 2015 “ I want my tears back” live at wacken 2013 “Seven days to the Wolves” live at Wembley 2015 “Amaranth” live at wacken 2013 "High hopes" live End of an Era (Marco lead) "Last ride of the day" live at Wacken 2013 * “The greatest show on earth” live at Tampere 2015 If you want to check out an song performed by their original singer Tarja watch: *“The Phantom of the Opera” live End of a Era DVD it’s pretty amazing. And there are so many more... Anything from the live shows at wacken 2013, wembley 2015, or Tampere 2015 are great though Floor seemed a bit vocally fatigued in the wembley show. It was the last show of a huge tour to support their album “Endless Forms Most Beautiful”. The one song from wembley that is a absolute must listen is “The Poet and the Pendulum”. In my opinion this is the greatest song Tuomas has ever written and when performed live with Floor it is as emotionally gripping and inspirational as music gets. The arrangement, the lyrics, the instrumental performance, and Floor’s vocal perfection are mind blowing.

I saw Nightwish live a little over a year ago and they were great. It was the only show I've ever been to where I saw a little girl up on her dad's shoulders and she was there the whole time. It's great that Floor can inspire so many young ladies and expose them to great music.
