I really like VOB, but she really doesn't have the voice for this. I give this band all the credit they deserve. They, and the crowd, seem to be having a blast..... David.

Funny thing about her voice. . .Voᗺ has been my entry to metal. I grew up on classical first (my mom was a piano teacher), then a mix of AM radio rock, eclectic FM college radio, fusion, jazz, folk, world music and a sprinkling of other things. I had friends who were into early metal (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, etc.) but it never clicked for me until Voice of Baceprot. I like the way they occupy the beat. That's my phrase for it. I was just thinking today about PMS (Perempuan Merdeka Seutuhnya - Completely Independent Woman). This is a group of completely independent women, making it together. Sitti with her metal drumming, Widi with her funky bass, Marsya with her punk and hip-hop. They each do their own thing and find a way to make it all interlock, picking different times within each bar to play together or separately. They're not unique in doing this, but they do it in a unique way that always sounds distinctive to me, even when they're doing a cover. So, to me, Marsya's voice is the voice of metal. I have listened to some of the stuff they have covered, but always after listening to their cover first.

@@robertpraetorius4007 I don't have a problem with her voice, I have all their original materiel on vinyl, what I meant was her voice isn't suited for some covers, although you instantly know it's VOB as soon as you hear them. I really like them, and my grandson loves the sound of the bass player, him being a bass player himself.. They're great, and I hope you didn't think I was disparaging their achievements... David.

@@powerdavid6235 Chacun à son goût. I'm just in the unusual position that Marsya's voice _always_ sounds right to me, 'cuz I'm hearing her do it first. IIRC, dude who runs the channel here actually preferred Marsya to Zack de la Rocha on one of Voᗺ's Rage covers. I dunno. If I'm looking for a voice to listen to, I'm gonna go to Maddy Prior, Bobby McFerrin, Manhattan Transfer or the Swingle Singers. That kinda stuff. When I listen to Marsya, I'm hearing attitude first and melody (or spitting, as the case may be) second. For me, she never fails on attitude. Since I tend not to know the originals that are being covered (and mostly don't even know stuff in the genre of the originals), I don't have a sense of what the traditions and conventions are within that genre. It _does_ seem likely that at times she does not fit those traditions and conventions.
