One of the many things I appreciate about Angelina, and especially her family, is the opportunity that she and they have given us with their documentation of her life. This is a very camera happy family, and thank God for that. Thanks to all their videos we get to live part of her childhood with her. It's partly why we love her as much as we do. She's like an adopted daughter or grand-daughter (and for some of us, great-grand-daughter). I am so proud of everything this unbelievably lovely lady of today has accomplished while still maintaining her inner beauty.

what does it mean when someone can sing a classic like Fly Me in any which style they want and convincingly so? If I hadn't seen Angelina perform this before, I would have assumed that THIS was the way she always delivers the song. She is just so darned easy going when serving up a song, like a waitress who asks, "Would you like fries with that?"

Great analysis and enthusiasm Valerie as always. Angelina performed this song for Quincy Jones 85th birthday celebration. The song was with the full orchestra in a Sinatra style swing. For my preference, it is my favorite performance of hers of fly Me to the Moon. But all of them are great.

AJ has sung this song multiple times over the years. The 1st time I heard her sing "Fly me to the Moon" was on "The View" at 8 (her 1st trip to the US). She also did a video I believe directed by her grandmother in a desert/salt flat environment. At 12? a video of a rehearsal for Quincy Jones' 85th birthday in London she performs Quincy's arrangement that he arranged for Frank Sinatra back in the 60s. All version are great! This my favorite song!!

Very good reaction - nice to hear your perspective on the styles that Angelina brings to us. I was at this concert, this song was not at the beginning, it's always an upbeat, strong song to start the show. As you say the variety of styles that Angelina has mastered is very impressive. In the summer concerts last year I think that it was Angelina's intimate interactions with the audience that brought everything to life. I hope that you will be able to attend one of her concerts this year, there is only so much you can describe in words - being there, in the moment, is what you need to experience. I would like to think, perhaps a few years from now, Angelina can put together a documentary on her life in music. I can imagine that the new age of music that she will bring will influence many artists in the future...

The new Bossa nova Latin style shows again her special creativity as a complete Artist ✌️💞A Version full of Love and happiness 💓💕 That was the best concert I have ever been. Thanks Valerie for another great technical reaction & analysis of Angelina's favorite song. As far as Frank Sinatra's version goes, she was invited to open Quincy Jones 85th Birthday concert 5 years ago when she was 12. He wrote the arrangement for Frank & Angelina honored him by singing Q's version rather than one of her many different arrangements of this song. Can't wait for your seminar on Jazz styles when you get it together. The 1st single from her album will be released the end of next month, followed by her full album in the fall which she said has a 60's vibe. This year the cutoff date for next years Grammys is a month earlier than usual on Aug 31, 2023. I think Republic Records is putting it off until after the cutoff date, so they don't have Angelina competing with their other big star's album by Taylor Swift. At least she will have a single that qualifies for the next Grammy's Awards & the full album will have nearly a full year to build support for the 2025 Grammys.

Fly Me To The Moon is sort of Angelina's signature song, she did it more often than any other title, with different arrangements, from just a guitar via jazz and big bands to orchestra. I think there are videos of her doing it on more than 30 occasions, including rehearsals and fragments. Actually what most people don’t know is that the Frank Sinatra version is the Quincy Jones arrangement and it was made with Count Basie, and it’s the version Angelina sang for Quincy Jones at his 85th birthday celebration at O2 arena in London, this more jazzy version is Angelina’s artistry and I prefer this version to all the other ways she has performed this song over career, she did the same thing to Patsi Cline’s “Crazy” making a more jazz version of a country song. Like most jazz performers, Angelina could probably convert any song to a jazz version.

Great analysis. This performance is so dreamy. Angelina's delivery is so relaxed. There is no tension whatsoever in her sense of tempo. I said it before she sings like a child petting a kitten. It's not mushy soft just so effortless. I think the next step up for Angelina will be her transition to live performance. Aside from the Bossa Nova style she does this song pretty "straight" but you can hear how she's beginning to experiment with little jazz touches. I'm sure her confidence on stage will grow and I hope she sticks to a more jazz repertoire rather than pop. Unfortunately they don't write songs like this anymore so a lack of new material could be a limiting factor if she goes that route. It will be interesting to see how her career progresses.
