The instrument is a Dombra a traditional Kazakh 2 string lute, he is wearing a shapan and the song is a poem from a famous poet and Kazakh activist that turned into a traditional folk song. This performance is special - it was his first big solo concert in his homeland and a huge part of the audience were people from all around world. At the end he was obviously fighting tears, you could literally see when it hit him that his childhood dream to introduce his culture to the world became reality.

Daididau is one of the songs that fans all over the world have learned to sing (phonetically) to sing with him at his concerts. One of his dreams was to hear a Kazakh song sung in Kazakh around the world. His Dears have not let him down. He was very overwhelmed at the end of this song by what he heard. It was the same when he came to NY. :)

The Bastau concert was put on by the Kazakh state to welcome Dimash back from his successful time in China, they really appreciate him as an artist and an ambassador of Kazakhstan. The whole concert is epic, full of sublime performances..eg Daybreak, Give Me Love, SOS, Unforgettable Day.. its well worth watching whole concerts of Dimash to get an idea of just how powerful he is. Did you notice how he got so emotional towards the end of this song? I'm sure those were tears, I think he was just overwhelmed by the occasion, this was his first solo concert I believe..and the love shown for him by the crowd... unbelievable, dramatic and emotional.

Nowadays Daididau is the most famous Kazakh song in the whole world thanks to Dimash Kudaibergen great performance. The piece of music was written by Kazakh poet Magzhan Zhumabayev, who used to call his beloved wife: Daididau. They married in 1922. Unfortunately, family happiness was short. Magzhan was arrested twice: in 1926 and 1937. His wife reached out and asked for a help to rescue many intellectuals during Repression years. Unfortunately on second and last arrest, the song writer was executed in 1938. The song may sounds like sadness from separation but it actually symbolise the freedom of Kazakh people.

The interesting thing about this performance is how well Dimash can adjust on the fly. His in-ear monitors weren't working, and he tried to gesture to the sound engineer by pointing to them, then he decided to walk over the one of the stage monitors and sing next to it so he could hear what he was singing. It's easily missed unless you look for it.

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "POPera" he also has a very pleasant, HUMBLE and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from USA 🇺🇸 "Dears" Forever ❤️ Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. It was actually a stadium, 40+, 000 audience. Amazing. Thanks for sharing your experience of this song. You guessed correctly; it is a sad song and a Kazakh story-telling classic. It is adapted from a Kazakh poem describing the true life-story about a Kazakh poet who fell afoul of the Stalinists during WWII, and his agonizing separation from his wife, his beloved, being persecuted and imprisoned behind the iron curtain. The then authorities fed him the lie while there that she had left him. This poem set to song tries to capture his great lament and despair over his wife, while behind prison walls. Daididau I lift my pen to write to you, my beloved Your complexion is beautiful as the full moon Every time I think of you, my lovely, My lifeless heart awakens with passion Oh, Daididau, My lifeless heart awakens with passion Are you determined to leave me? Our blissful past is but a distant memory Remember our solemn vow to each other To whom shall I divulge my sorrow Oh, Daididau, To whom shall I divulge my sorrow

When dreams come true. That was such a big moment for Dimash. He in his country invites you to a concert. His first big solo concert and people from all over the world come and sing this song with him. He is so proud of his country and happy when others appreciate it too. His fans learned the song for him out of love and respect for him. The next big dream came true for him when he had his concert in the USA. That was also very special for him. The song is about a man who was taken prisoner and told that the wife he loved had left him. The song goes to her. He's basically making her a declaration of love and mourning his loss. Others will tell the story better. With names and such. In any case, it was false information, because the woman stood by him and fought for his freedom. She then got him released again. Unfortunately, he was later imprisoned again and then executed.

He was playing a Dombra. The dombra is the national instrument of Kazakhstan and it is the 'soul' of the Kazakh people. The other instruments are traditional folk instruments. You see at the beginning that Dimash is motioning that his inner ear is not working. The song is well known. It is a poem written from prison to a man's love. (true story) He was put in jail wrongfully for treason. He was told a lie about his love, saying that she no longer loved him. Later he was released and they were reunited and he knew that he was told a lie. Then he was imprisoned again and put to death. This song is that poem.

👉 The Dombra is a folk musical instrument widely used in Central Asia. It is made of wood and has a pear-shaped body with a long neck (only in Kazakhstan with frets) to which two gut strings are attached. The dombra can be rightly called the queen of Kazakh instruments since the XIX-th century. Dombra can be met in each yurta; it was referred to as one the most necessary and obligatory things in the life of Kazakhs. One of the greatest dombra players was the Kazakh folk musician and composer Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly, who had a great influence on the development of Kazakh music culture, his musical composition 'Adai' is popular in Kazakhstan and abroad. Although Kazakh musical instruments resemble those belonging to other tribes of the Central Asian ethnic group, they have their peculiarities dictated by national traditions. Today the dombra is a national symbol of the Kazakhs and Dimash said every Kasacian child learns this instrument. In many legends the heroes of successfully made use the ability to 'communicate without words: 'In spite of his father's prohibition the khan's son secretly went hunting. He met a herd of kulans and wounded the leader. Infuriated, Lame Kulan killed the youth with a stroke of the hoof. After waiting in vain for the return of his son from hunting, the khan declared that anyone who approached him with that estirtu (bad news) would be executed by pouring molten lead into the mouth. No one dared for a long time until an old dombrist (a person who plays the dombra) attempted. The sorrowful tune of the kyui was able to send this tragic message across to the khan. He ordered that the molten lead be poured into the dombra. That was how the opening in the upper sounding board of this musical instrument came about.'
