It is a melancholic song to me. "Akin ka na lang", means, "Please, be mine". It is about a secret feeling of romantic love of a girl to her boy friend but her boy friend only sees her as a friend. This girl would really like to have their relationship a step-higher than just being friends, but as it is, she is caught in a stand-off situation for some reason...her inability to communicate her true feelings to the boy that she loves...which, created such a haunting pain in her heart and soul. When Morisette goes up in her song to belt-out...the listener can really feel her side of the story. This song is her original piece. Thank you, Ms Valerie of Vocal Splendor Studio, for giving us a glimpse of your professional expertise reaction. As a Filipino, we tend to be emotional in our songs but at the same time, as an Islander in the Philippines, living in the Southern parts, in the island of Mindanao, we can also be good at laughs, especially , when we make fun on the travesties of life. That was why, as a listener, I can also feel not only the melancholy but the joy of having discovered a different kind of love, and frustration because of a feeling unrequited but still some hope in there somewhere. 😎😎
