Yes, you’re completely right. I think she has one of the best voices of this generation, but I don't feel like she wants to show it to people. It’s always the same thing, a head voice, some falsetto and that’s it. I wanted to see something else outside of her comfort zone, something heavier and more consistent that, for sure, she’s capable to do!

I would love to see her get a bit more outside her comfort zone as well, but she does plenty of beautiful mixed belts that sound incredible (like in Thinkin Bout You)

On Fallon she's displayed her killer prowess absolutely NAILING impressions [singing hilarious songs like Mary Had a Little Lamb as Britney.) She's done Celine, Britney, Christina etc. She outdid Xtina singing Wheels on the Bus LOL. She's explained it took her a minute to find her OWN sound after growing up being able to totally imitate the divas. If you haven't seen that segment on his show, you'd enjoy it. Many divas have been great. And men, too. Jamie Foxx doing the Toys are Us jingle as John Legend LOL. Ari is the consumate pro. They give her the note and she GOES even when she's nervous about it like doing Xtina. Mitch Grassi has that skill. Fearless and super skilled.

I think her signature sound is the breathiness and barely pronouncing the words. It's very timely in her era of music where singers mussitate and barely pronounce (mumble rap). Where as singers before her time (Mariah breathy sound with clearer pronunciation), are very different. You can see that she studied great singers and curated her own sound. Ariana is great - I mean if Patti Label knows you - you're that work!

She’s very skilled in changing up the style/sound of her voice in the way it sounds. She’s been in Broadway so she knows how to sing clear and more forward in her voice. Shes also really worked on her enunciation compared to when she first came out; I think if you looked it up on KZbin or listen to her first album compared to now, you’ll hear the difference :)
