Hauntingly beautiful! Here's the lyrics in English: Mountain breeze Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier, You keep coming into my mind from time to time, My amazing homeland, where I was born and raised I wasn't riding, I was walking, Even slower than walking, Been strolling for 15 days In the direction of Omsk I'm at the age of two cycles, the year of the cow By the will of Fate, I went farther away Mountain breeze, my amazing country, you're left behind From the hollow field, we are the only ones I had parents, Of progressed age, Since this song was written, It's been 16 years. Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier lyricstranslate.com/en/samaltau-mountain-breeze.html

This is truly an epic performance and it is the only real word! The whole composition and amazing arrangement are really something that should remain inscribed in golden letters in the temple of world musical heritage. The instruments are fantastic. at the very beginning the string instrument howls like a wolf .... barks like a pack of dogs, and together with another instrumentalist creates a real magic in which the ingenious Dimash is really .... "icing on the cake"! I am really impressed and I am convinced that Dimash is truly a “God’s Gift” to people all over the world to help all the people in the world with his musical talent and his exceptional personality to “reset” and return to the right value system. Therefore, dear Natalija, I thank you very much for your very sensitive and very competent reaction. I apologize for my poor knowledge of English. Greetings from Croatia!

From what I've read, this song is about events in 1916 when the Russian Czar decreed that all Kazakh males between the ages of 19 and 39 had to fight for Russia in W.W.1. The song was written by a 28 yr old Kazakh on a forced march to join the battle, and he is worried about how his elderly parents are going to survive without his help, and if he will he ever see them again.

"Samal Tau" It is a traditional Kazakh song that talks about a soldier, who is forced to leave his home, to march to an unknown land and fight in a foreign war, known as "The Great War" or "First World War" . Between the agony of that instrument that is listened to, which hits the exact tear of one who is going to fight a war and separates himself from his affections and where only desolation and death await him. Our beloved Prince with that genuine feeling, turns a song of so much pain into a story that claims the life of every soldier who perished. Brilliant Dimash, you are not only an excellent singer and great performer, but you are also a great storyteller of your ancestors. It is a blessing to know that there is a possibly unique BEING, who has the gift of transmitting the word in all its range, doing it with the passion that you do. I can't stop thanking you and I ask God for the opportunity at some point in my life to feel your vibrant voice close to me. Take this comment because it accurately explains the video. greetings from Argentina

The other song is "Autumn Strong" which is in my opinion a Masterpiece. Keep safe. 😊🏴👍

I cannot express how profoundly this song tears at my soul. It psints in incredible picture of the animals, off the sky, and of the stepps. The singer mourns his world that is gone, and cannot be retrieved. His heart breaks as he leaves his family and home behind. Such sorrow and grief your heart breaks.

BRAZIL - NATALIA, wonderful reaction to SAMALTAU, this folk song but based on real events and where only Dimash, the best storyteller, sings with such passion and emotion the pain of that soldier in leaving his land and his family, knowing that he will not return to see them again. This soldier represents the Kazakh people, who at the time were forced by the Russian tsar to fight in a war, which was not his. Dimash's voice is like a cry, a cry. Magnificent music, lyrics, Dimash's voice and Kazakh instruments that help tell the story. At last this song is getting the attention it deserves, because the Kazakh folk songs are almost all beautiful and based on real facts, I love it. Dimash will soon release a new album in Kazakh, I can't wait.

What am I thinking about Dimash's performance? I think it's always too short. That's why I am listening him every day from morning to night. At first I was puzeled about his choice of the song for the Jazz festival. Then I've realized what he is doing. And this song and musical instruments are the best show case to represent his country's rich culture. I think this particular performance will be in a history of the music. How in very limited space to create an amazing atmosphere of the song. Without any visual effects make us imagine and feel the emotions he convey. Dimash is a genuine musical genius!!!

Another great reaction and analysis. Dimash was invited to participate in the Tokyo Jazz Festival last year on his 26th Birthday on 24th May and was very disappointed when it was canceled. However it was reinstated as an online festival and he took part from his music room/studio in his house in Astana, Kazakhstan. The back story is important in interpreting this experience. This song is based on the writings of a young Kazakh who lived with his parents and family in the mountainous area of Kazakhstan when he was forced into the Tsar's army to fight in WWI. He had never been out of his own little part of Kazakhstan. The sounds of those ancient instruments represented the sounds of nature that he loved so much -- the wind, the howling wolves, etc. He's being forced to go fight in a war he does not understand for a Tsar to which he feels no allegiance. He misses his homeland and family as he marches to war, and he's wondering if he will survive the battles and be able to return to the homeland he loves so much. If you are interested in learning more about what the song is about here is additional information: www.iias.asia/the-newsletter/article/time-ordeal-story-1916-revolt-central-asia As you already know, Dimash is from Kazakhstan, but more specifically, he is a native Kazakh. Kazakhs are separate indigenous people from regular Kazakhstanis. They are the original Nomad tribes from the steppes; some still live as nomadic people. Dimash is a direct descendant and lives traditionally with his extended family and they keep all the cultural traditions. It is custom that the firstborn son of a family is given to a set of grandparents to raise for at least 10 years. Dimash was entrusted to his paternal grandparents, and they raised him to be highly confident in himself. They raised him to believe that God had a great plan for him, and he should pursue it and dedicate himself to that plan with his entire being. The kobyz, played here by Olzhas Qurmanbeck, is a 5,000-year-old, traditional, and sacred instrument in Kazakhstan. The kobyz or Kyl kobyz is the most ancient bowed instrument on earth, widespread among the Turks, Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. It became the basis for most of today's bowed instruments worldwide, including European instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and contrabass. The Kyrgyz variant is called Kyl kayak. The instrument is carved from a single piece of wood (typically apricot), juniper (arsha), maple, pine tree, or birch. It consists of three parts: head (bas), middle (base is keude), and lower part (ayak) and usually measures 60-70 cm. It has two strings made from horsetail hair, one to provide melody and the other resonance. The bow is shaped like an archer's bow, and its string is tied to both ends of the bent branch and affixed with strong threads of camel wool. The other instrument is a Kazakh side-blown flute called a Sybyzgy, traditionally played by shepherds and horse herders. It is made from apricot wood or the wood of mountain bushes and makes the sound of birds. The rainstick is a long, hollow tube partially filled with small pebbles or beans that has small pins or thorns arranged helically on its inside surface. When the stick is upended, the pebbles fall to the other end of the tube, bouncing off the internal protrusions to create a sound reminiscent of falling rain. Here it is used to imitate the sound of the wind blowing the grasses of the Steppe. The instruments on the wall are various styles of Dombra plus a Jetigen, a 7 stringed Zither, and a drum. LYRICS (from lyricstranslate.com): Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake, What days await me as a soldier, You keep coming into my mind from time to time, My amazing homeland, where I was born and raised I wasn't riding, I was walking, Even slower than walking, Been strolling for 15 days In the direction of Omsk I'm at the age of two cycles, the year of the cow By the will of Fate, I went farther away Mountain breeze, my amazing country, you're left behind From the hollow field, we are the only ones I had parents, Of progressed age, Since this song was written, It's been 16 years. I may have missed them, but I haven't seen you react to Love is Like a Dream, Sinful Passion, Love of Tired Swans, Screaming or Know. The last three all have live performances and music videos which are works of art, and Know has a few Vocalise versions that are magical and show yet another side to Dimash's talent. Even if you don't react to them, you should experience them if you haven't already. One last suggestion, which is one of my favorites - he did a short song for a stage production called Three Buddies. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard and is far too short, but you should definitely hear it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3WQcqVojdh9pNk
