That breath starting with him jumping up and down and going to the end of those melismas was 22sec. This concert was a tribute to the deceased singer of the Kazakh born / Russia based group A-Studio. The rest of the band were backing guest singers covering their material, and this song was written by the pianist of the group. The man who stood up in the front row was composer Igor Krutoy, whom you'll see much of in the future. Dimash started to sing many of Krutoy's songs, and then the composer started writing songs for Dimash's voice. Actually you have seen him as a judge on Diana Ankudinova's videos. The second note after the highest one he sang (the E6) uses a technique some have called a glottal stop, where he alternates between registers. Someone said that this is a vocalization usually practiced by women at funerals in that part of the world. That could be a symbolic reference to the death of the original singer of the song.

BRAZIL - R.GRAY what rich information you gave us, mainly because the glottal parade is a custom at funerals for women, in that part of the world and yes, who knows Dimash may have used it to honor Batyrkhan, a great probability. I think this technique is fantastic and beautiful.

Dear Andy, that was one breath of singing for 22 seconds. I remember him saying in an interview that he wanted to include some traditional singing (which reminded you of the Arabic style) to some of his songs. I think it is the way people sing in Kazakhstan in some very traditional songs.
@ubervocal8777

That special tribal riff was achieved by vibrating the larynx and is something practiced in Kazakhstan, Mongolia and other parts of Asia. This particular one was based on an Irkutsk folk style. Further youtubers have commented that it is used some parts of the Middle East. It is also referred to as a "glottal stop" and used in English when we say "uh oh". A Kazakh youtuber commented: Dimash used singing kazakh technique, that called 'komeymen aytu', You can hear it from the Turan Group. Saha people ( Rus) uses this technique too, they called it 'kylyhah'.
@susannorth138

Übervocal thank you for defining this technique as I knew it sounded Arabic. Sting has Cheb Mami do it in the song DESERT ROSE. I love when he sings like that he does in ASCOTA LA VOCE, Salmantau, and some other songs. Maybe I love it because of my heritage but not the same religion but always wanted to see Israel as well as the Pyramids.

I Andy from another USA Dear from Texas. Love your reactions and have seen all of them. Should you do the Screaming videos next I think Love of Tired Swans should be next. He and Igor won song of the year for that one. Following that should be Love is Like a Dream, Ogni Pietra (Olympico) and then the New Wave 2019 Sochi performances (six of them where the new song by Igor. Passione composed for Di to sing at Sochi. You are getting closer to 2020. Can't wait to hear these with you. See you soon I hope.

Wonderful reaction. The man on the keyboard is the composer of the song and the band playing is the original artist of the song.

BRAZIL- Dear Andy, another great reaction to Dimash, as always his work is perfect, I love it. I love this chronological follow-up and I see everyone with you, in no hurry, because Dimash deserves this treatment, after all he has been progressing since 2017. Much has been commented on KZbin about this performance being autotune, I am only sorry, because I do not believe it, after all when you get to Arnau's big show in Kazakhstan, Dimash sings SINFUL PASSION again in an epic, beautiful way, better than that of Sochi 2018 which is already wonderful, you will see Andy. This song was made by the pianist who appears in the video and at the end we see the conductor and pianist Igor Krutoy, standing, in a white shirt applauding, who was already watching Dimash, there is a video where he said that there is a young singer causing a furor, but I was already wanting to partner with Dimash that is working, because Dimash won 2 awards (Russian Grammy) with a song from him at the end of 2019 (OLYMPICO-OGNI PIETRA). I love this glamorous parade, I love everything about this song. bATYRKHAN was the name of the singer of the band AStudio, he was an excellent singer, Dimash admires him and this band is wonderful too. Thank you and we are following Andy ...
