"Dos Tipos de Cuidado" (Two Dangerous Guys) is my favorite Mexican comedy of all time. The movie starts with a prologue at a friendly countryside vacation retreat. Jorge Bueno and Pedro Malo are best friends. They're both having girlfriend troubles and discuss their problems. Jorge's girlfriend is tired of being strung along by him and wants them to be married now, or obviously there will be no, um, action let's say. Jorge decides to play it coy and ask her for a platonic friendship in order to make her jealous. Pedro meanwhile is going out with Jorge's sister, but she is angry at Pedro's philandering ways. He belittles this by calling the other girls just little playthings ("chamaconas"). She declares she is breaking up with him, so he insists to kiss her goodbye. She tells him if he kisses her, she will break his head. He kisses her, and she busts him over the head with a big stick as promised. Cut to the "present". For the first time in about a year or so, Jorge and Pedro are in the same town. Pedro is now married with Jorge's old girlfriend and they have a newborn daughter together. Pedro's Arab-Mexican father in law despises him for his philandering and lack of attention to his family. Pedro goes to town alone to have a party with his friends to celebrate his daughter's birth, complete with more "chamaconas" and music. He then wanders into a saloon in town where Jorge is playing poker. Pedro's landlocked farm is in trouble because Jorge bought an adjoining property with an artesian well ("ojo de agua") and is not allowing Pedro to use any of his water, whatever the price. As a last resort, Pedro begs Jorge to play one hand of poker with him; if Pedro wins, Jorge has to sell him water for his crops, if Jorge wins, Pedro will give him the land, which is no use to him without water, and leave town for good. Jorge accepts and Pedro barely wins the hand with a lucky draw. Of course, Jorge is furious, insults Pedro, and invites him to a pistol duel, which Pedro turns down, and Jorge declares Pedro a coward. Soon we get a flashback scene which pulls the story back together for the viewer. This is the point of conflict. Pedro and Jorge are friends still, and both visit a lively restaurant. Pedro, ever the philanderer, is busy trying to get an underage waitress drunk. Jorge, despite having a steady girlfriend, invites another girl out with him to the restaurant. The girlfriend gets wind of it and goes to the restaurant to confront Jorge. Jorge tells her she doesn't own him and he can eat with whoever he wants. She is about to make a scene, when Pedro calms her down and walks her home. The rest is up to the imagination, but obviously in Pedro's tipsy condition and Jorge's girlfriend's emotional devastation, nature takes its course and then Pedro marries Jorge's ex in order to make the now pregnant young lady an "honest woman" in their rustic, provincial village. Pedro is still in love with Jorge's sister, and Jorge is still in love with Pedro's now wife. Jorge consoles himself by getting engaged with the rich daughter of a retired revolutionary general in town. The engagement party is where the scene above takes place. The part where Pedro sings that he wants to mix Bad and Good (a play on their names, "Malo y Bueno") is a declaration that he is still in love with Jorge's sister, which infuriates Jorge's rage even more. Pedro is plotting to end the feud, marry Jorge's sister, and divorce his wife so she can marry Jorge, and everyone can be happy, making this a classic farce comedy. Pedro visits Jorge's sister to serenade her with a mariachi. At the same time, and in split screen, Jorge visits Pedro's wife also with a mariachi to serenade her, another classic musical scene in juxtaposition. Pedro's father in law is very angry that his daughter is now the object of a town scandal. Jorge's future father in law is also embarrassed and furious about the scandal this caused his newly engaged daughter. Interestingly, nobody seems that upset that the married Pedro serenaded Jorge's sister, but after all this is an old school, macho Mexican village. Jorge is determined to draw Pedro into a fight to the death this time. Pedro pretends to accept, but only to get Jorge alone and explain himself and his plot, at which point they secretly become friends again and accomplices in their secret plan to fool their families and the entire village. Pedro goes to town and is about to make travel plans for them all to leave the village forever, when he is suddenly met by Jorge's future father in law, who demands that Pedro confront and kill Jorge for dishonoring him, his daughter, and of course Pedro's own wife because of the very public serenade. He even insists that Pedro use his own that he used in the revolution. The general is so insistent that he wants to follow Pedro through the town until he finds Jorge and gets his vengeance. Pedro makes up a story that Jorge has a terminal illness and will die soon, and he wants his former friend to have his last days be happy ones. The two find Jorge in the post office where he is about to mail a love letter to Pedro's wife. The general takes and reads the letter, and luckily enough, Jorge has written to her that he suffers from a sickness that is killing him (though he is writing of the "sickness" of love). The general, not wanting his daughter to marry a man who is going to die soon, accepts this and wishes them both well. They go to one last party in town so they can tell the ladies about their plot, after which they will get on the train and leave the village forever, with Jorge agreeing to marry Pedro's wife and raise their daughter as his own. There is a great optic in this explanation scene where the camera catches Pedro's face and the horns of a stuffed goat head mounted on the wall behind him, making it look like Pedro has horns coming out of his head, which is the classic Mexican sign of the "cabron", or cuckolded man, a very funny and well-written part. The final plot twist is that Pedro's father in law sees Jorge dancing at the party and no longer believes he is terminally ill. Pedro overhears him telling someone to go get Jorge's doctor so he can ask him about Jorge's health. In fear of the plot being discovered, Pedro tells a farm worker to intercept the doctor under the ruse that a man on the other side of town fell off a horse and urgently needs medical attention. Just a few minutes later, the doctor comes to the party, explaining that he saw the man who supposedly fell off his horse and he is just fine. Jorge and Pedro lock the father in law in a room. They then all have to leave the party and get out of town forever as the movie ends.

The part that Pedro mentions "regular" refers to the fact that his last name is Malo, and since Jorge (and his sister) have the last name Bueno, it suggests that Pedro loves Jorge's sister... very hot for 1953. Thanks for your reactions Andy!

Hello Mr. Andy Davies, Nice to meet you. I'm from México and for me, I'm fully proud that from other countries reacts from our greatest golden year singers. Let me tell you about some anegdote of Pedro whit Jorge. Jorge was the Pedro's idol, and when the movie director Ismael Rodriguéz had this idea to make a movie whit the two most important singuers in the epoch he knows that could be a little dificult, because each one got this jealousy "¿Who was the best?" but it was most of it, respect and admiration. Ismael came to Pedro to talk about this project and Pedro tell him that he will have a shame, because for him, Jorge "Was the bests and his idol" and he couldn't be at his level. Ismael convence him to did it and the resoult was THE BIGGEST SUCCES in the history in the mexican music singuers and in the movie teaters. From then on, agreat friendship began between them. Also Pedro request a song for Jorge, in which he coluld express his respects and admiration (this is the link for you can hear it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5bGc3qMiJ2mmZY "Tributo a Jorge Negrete". When Jorge hear the song, he can't contain his emotion and the tears start to run in to his face. It's the one and only event in the history, that one singuer sing and dedicate a song for an other singuer. The next year from the movie was realeise, Jorge die of cancer. Pedro attended the funeral and made honor guard to the pantheon, "His idol died" and his departure from this world hurt him a lot. Thank you for read my coment an apology for my writing (I'm a little rusty, but I guess can defend my self). Sincerely: A proud Mexican.

Although born in San Francisco, California, I resided in Mexico City two times in my life. First as a child, later just shy of entering teenage. As a child of around 5 or 6, I was at my mother's side at a theater featuring Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete performing live on stage. A female singer who's name I have no knowledge of stood between them. At that age I had no idea of who they were. I returned to Mexico City in 1957 as a pre teen. Mexico City was still mourning the death of Pedro Infante from a plane crash. Many movie theaters were showing many of his films. "Tizoc" and "Escuela de Rateros" still hadn't been released. I saw "Tizoc" in Mexico City after it was released. I saw his last movie, "Escuela de Rateros" after returning back to the USA. Today as a cultural gesture, I make photos of Pedro Infante and distribute them to Mexican restaurants and mobile street vendors as a gift. All recipients young and old instantly know the name of the person in the photo.
