His voice shows his emotion. And it shows me that my imperfect voice could touch peoples souls too. Ya know. He Emotes so well and and that makes up for where his voice might lack. I think Posty isn't a "singer" per se but more of a performer. Imo I'd love to see more Posty.

I am his super fan and always be in the pit at his concert - I don’t think he has the best correct vocal - but I love his music, the meaning behind, and his vibe when he is performing

I don't listen to much Post... just sorta missed me... other than the spiderverse track cause that was just everywhere... but I did watch this tiny desk concert and man does he just ooze sincerity. He's crazy famous and starts this off thanking them all for listening to his busted ass voice cause he's touring but he clearly really wanted to be there and to sing for this group then went on to have a blast and everyone around him looked like they were also having a blast. I know some people watched it and thought "oof this is rough, a hard listen" and I just don't know how the vibes didn't wash over them cause Im not a fan of this dude (or I guess wasnt cause that performance kinda sold me) and the vibes were immaculate. Then again I've always preferred character to clarity in a voice.

@@SamJohnsonVoiceHave you heard him sing "I'm Gonna Miss Her" , by Brad Paisley? If not please do yourself a favor and listen, the video is here on KZbin. I'm not a country music fan, but WOW he did it so well! I actually saw a comment from Brad Paisley to Posty on TikTok and Brad said, "You sang it better than me". Of course Post was so humbled by it. Such a beautiful soul.

Hearing you talk about how lifestyle affects the voice I was immediately thinking of Whitney Houston. I think she had the healthiest technique when she started and in the end she wasn't even able to finish one song with a tiny range. I know it's not a recent topic but would you be interested to analyze the development of her voice through the years?

The message that you put out today was what I needed to hear. You didn’t focus on tonality you didn’t focus on pitch you focused on charisma, you focused on personal expression. I have struggled with confidence in singing my whole life, trying to sound like other singers, when I enjoy and admire and adore singers, who are imperfect, and have so much personality and heart and soul, that you can feel it, we don’t need a world full of gospel belters. We need those people but not only those people we need everybody who has a point of you and a voice and a uniqueness to share. Thank you thank you thank you thank you you are a lovely human. And I agree with everything you said about Post Malone being a lovely human. You can see that love coming from the artist all around him and just how much everybody is enjoying sharing the space with him. That is what we need to see.

The thing I love about especially watching Post Malone play and that is is so clear he is genuinely, and deeply thrilled with what he is doing and he is having the most amazing time. New subscriber here - I'm loving your reaction/analysis videos, they are so helpful! I feel like it's the vulnerability in his voice and his lyrics that a lot of us can relate to, rather than it being any specific tonal quality. Although I do love his casual style and a bit of rasp!

hi sam! you've probably gotten a ton of requests for REN already, but besides his undeniably masterful "hi ren," I would also humbly request "the tale of jenny & screech/violet's tale" (the trilogy of live music videos in full), "how to be me" and "chalk outlines" both live with chinchilla, "money game," "sick boi," the live acoustic versions of "animal flow" and "murderer," and any of his live busking performances with his former band the big push. I think you'd really love REN's overall well-rounded musicality and virtuosity

But at least he admitted to unlike other singers, I won’t mention who say they don’t use auto tunes, which we know in this day and age everybody uses pretty much auto tune for the most part, including not even playing real instrument.

Singer of the week in my world: Kihyun doing a song, Full Moon, from the Kdrama Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmrPeHSFm6mCb7csi=pNuVIrBDiYHSHjpo. I’m late to the game with the genre but I’m interested in the idea of a Korean pop style of singing. Also, watching to see if the genre of English language K-pop is going to explode as its own thing. Here’s another idea, how a woman can cover a man’s song or vice versa. You were a great teacher years ago, but you’ve gotten even better. ❤ Hope I can take lessons again soon.
