Whew. I don't care how she sings Ex-Factor but I feel like she is the ONLY one who can sing it the way it's meant to be sung. This was gorgeous!

The sheer emotion in this rendition of the song is heart wrenching. I've heard this song plenty of times but I can really hear the pain behind the lyrics.

Her voice is aging like wine. Her husky, raw sound makes up for all those trills and etc she did earlier in her career. Her technique is still the same, just a change in vocal tone. But her range?! It’s still there ❤Love me some Lauryn and thank you Jaron for the analysis

I immediately thought Rachelle Ferrell when Lauryn did the high pitched scat moment as that’s one of Rachelle’s go to’s. This was such a gut wrenching performance and I mean that in the best way possible because it’s made me FEEL the lyrics! On top of that there was a certain freedom with which Lauryn performed the song. It felt experimental and that felt good to my soul!

And you know how many times you’ve forgiven someone you love and argue with them repeatedly and still love them even though they don’t love themselves and just want them to love themselves and live a real life of love rather than destructive bringing everyone heart down with them… everytime she says crazyyyy I feel it and I see it and I want it until it just stops the feeling from even existing at all

Meanwhile people continue to attack and those people will never understand real live music. They are used to "entertainers' lip syncing and would rather have it sound exactly like it was recorded 25 years ago. Some people get and some don't.

I’m gonna do some more rapping videos soon! I e done them in the past and they don’t get much love, but I’ll still do them because you’re right - rappers use voice textures and such all the time!

Come on, man her voice is cracking all over the place. Ms. Hill was never a great singer...but her interpretation was always an emotional one.
@too2great85 ай бұрын
You're entitled to your opinion, but you're wrong with your observation. Lauryn has always been a dope MC and an equally dope singer. A song like this is sung as almost a lamentation. Her heart and spirit are broken, and her lead vocals are vaulting over the bgv's. She's articulating and directing at the same time. It's masterclass, but not everyone is gonna get it or like it.
@jeremythomie5 ай бұрын
Um excuse me what??? Lol. Her tone is so RICH. The raspiness/ vocal breaks are sometimes that added texture and emotion. Her voice has gotten deeper with age too, and her vibrato is even faster. She's always had alot of agility because of that. She's VERY technical too. She's STILL one of the greats vocally, in my opinion! 🙌🏾✨️
@SirDave5 ай бұрын
ALWAYS was a great VOCALIST, which is why her interpretation and rendition of his eyes is on the sparrow is the one that most vocalists cover.

Some of those runs are beautiful, but it kinda sounds like 1. She's older, her voice has changed. 2. Sis gotta stop smoking, it's ruining her instrument. She struggled through some of that, and we gotta acknowledge that.
