@paivlar I asked this question to TC helicon, the answer I go was. Yes, the vocal effects will work when you have the guitar in the through/ bypass guitar effects 1/4" input. Pitch correction harmony will not detect from your instrument if you do not use the guitar effects input, but you can set the pitch correction and harmony for the key you want to sing in ahead of time. Not sure if the room sense mics will work in that situation? You can also input separatly to a 1/8" aux for that.

I really wish the guitar thru would allow the guitar effects to be applied while still passing the signal to my amp or pedals. This would allow me to save a ton of money in effects by using the ones that are on the GTX.

Is it possible to connect an external volume pedal to control the harmony gain since there's an input socket for pedal on the unit? Thanks in advance for the quick reply and advice, it's very much appreciated!!! 😊

I didn't think the pitch read for harmonies worked in through mode? I can say that I have downloaded the no amp bank presets & that did help with my acoustic. I just put an LR baggs M1 active on my Taylor & it sounds amazing through the VLP GTX. So if you have an old under saddle piezo passive in a G series takamine it doesn't make it sound 10xs better like some preamps will. but is still a usable acoustic sounding signal.

anyone else having noise gate issues? When I have any effects on (and even when I don't), my mic picks up drums and my guitar amps (which are behind me obviously) and the effects bleed through the PA loudly. I tried the tone settings but nothing strong enough to gate this stuff out in a small venue. Looking for a microphone gate pedal to put between my mic and the input of the GTX but can't find anything.

Hi TC Helicon guys! I have been trying to find an answer for the tap tempo. And nothing's coming up so I'm going to try to ask here... I am trying to get my device to save below 45 bpms. I can tap tempo 35 bpms for a very slow vocal delay. But once I switch between effects and I go back it always reverts back to 45 bpms. Is there any way to override this? Try heading into the setup menu and turn Pitch Cor Amt to 0/off. You may have global pitch correction enable which can give a slightly phased sound to the singer (not the audience). Here's a video about that phenomenon: music-group.force.com/musickb/view?name=tch&id=kA028000000NCLfCAO

***** Hi Fabio, if you don't have a mic, you can set the SETUP --> INPUT to RoomSense and use the built in mics to feed the vocal effects. You can only do that with headphones on, since it'd create feedback through speakers.If you just want to play guitar though it, you can do that too. You don't HAVE to connect a mic.

Maybe this is a stupid question, or I just missed the point, but if using the "Inst Thru" does nothing with the guitar signal, WHY plug into the GTX input at all? Because the GTX uses your guitar signal to determine the pitch of pitch correction and vocal harmonies.

If you just want to hear vocal harmonies, do the following: 1. Make a preset with only the Harmony effect turned on (turn off all other effects) and 2. For global settings, set the LEAD MUTE parameter to ON and 3. Use the INST THRU output so that the guitar sound is not output from the XLR output.

I would like to restore original preset nr 48 and not to loose my new presets on empty levels. Could you tell me STEP by STEP, how to do this? Thank you.
@tchelicon9 жыл бұрын
+monika pazik The simplest way to restore a single preset is to use VoiceSupport. Download VoiceSupport here: www.tc-helicon.com/products/voicesupport/ Then, connect your device to your computer via USB. (the cable that came with the unit) Next install and launch VoiceSupport. Click on the Presets tab when VoiceSupport opens. Click on the big button in the middle of the screen. Find preset 48, click it with your mouse and press delete (on your keyboard). Last, press "Apply Changes". That will delete your messed up user preset and replace it with the factory preset for 48. Close VoiceSupport and then disconnect the USB cable. There is a way to reset ALL presets to factory on the unit during power up, but not just one. You'll need to use the VoiceSupport method for that.

But it was discontinued!!! (bad new) Well I searched around the world and I finally found one in my country, someone was selling one almost new Helicon GTX, great! So now I have it, and it es GREAT! I'd love to show you my pedal board, it's the best. Well, all this history is to ask you one question: If I am governing the memories with the midi input, there is any possibility to use the up and down pedal for other functions? The chords still get captured that way but the guitar sounds are muted in the GTX.

@tchelicon10 жыл бұрын
Mati Murumaa Hi Mati, do you mean VoiceLive 2? VL3 has only been out since Jan 2014. In any case, the adapter from a VL2 will work fine on a Play GTX, but not the other way around. The VL2 requires more amperage than the Play GTX so the GTX has a lower rated supply with it.

Great unit. I use this at every gig for different vocal reverbs and effects but unfortunately can't use the guitar sounds because of a latency. Throws your timing off. It's slight but it's enough to put you out of time. I use an acoustic. Anyone know why?
@tchelicon9 жыл бұрын
+Tod Woodward There's always some latency since we're doing processing. We try to get it low enough that it's not noticeable at close range. As you move from your speaker/amp you add another 1ms per foot of travel time for the audio to get to your ears. If you can, move your amp closer to where you're standing/sitting and that can reduce the "feel" to a more comfortable amount. If you use headphones/IEM's that will reduce it further.

I screwed up some setting and want to know how to reset individual voice settings. Such as to much reverb or auto tune is jacked. How to reset it back. Thanks
@tchelicon8 жыл бұрын
Heya B, 1. When you use the in/thru, the sounds are muted inside the unit. This is intentional because the thru is designed to go from a guitar to their pedals/amp and you wouldn't want to double up the sounds. In your case, I'd try using the Aux input for the keys. You can loop that and it's in stereo. 2. If you want to reset the presets all at once, there's instructions in the manual. If I recall correctly, you hold the left and right arrow buttons (next to the control knob) when you power up the unit. This will reset ALL presets back to factory and remove any that weren't in the factory bank. Just a warning!
@Chiefit8 жыл бұрын
1.So theres not a setting to bypass the guitar effects/sounds or just play the "guitar" dry or in my case keyboard dry? And by using the aux you're suggestion a quarter inch to 3mm adapter. 2. I have not been able to connect my TC helicon to my computer which i'm trying right now to update my GTX. I did it once with my PC, but it will not recognize it on my mac. Currently I have firmware 1.2.10 B60
@tchelicon8 жыл бұрын
1. Yeah, if you connect the thru, all internal guitar effects/sounds are muted. Another option is to set the Global Guitar FX ON in the setup menu, which locks all presets to one guitar sound. Then, you'd go into the guitar effects section and turn everything off, amp, effects, etc. You'd then get a keyboard sound into the unit that isn't being affected by the guitar processing. Only difference in that setup is that your keys output comes out the GTX, so you'd have to sort out how you want it mixed with your vocals. (Dual Mono is available to have two separate mono signals) It would let you do the looping that way. 2. There's a fairly large guide for issues surrounding VoiceSupport connections, since computers vary so wildly. First, make sure you're using VoiceSupport 2 www.tc-helicon.com/products/voicesupport/ Then, refer to this guide: support.tc-helicon.com/entries/21014742-VoiceSupport-Can-t-connect-update-device

question: why is the blue voicelive compatible with the MP-76 microphone, and the gtx play that has the same system and voice software is not compatible? I understand that it is a question of the market, or the same that has made the gtx too versatile and similar to other pedals was removed from the market unlike older and less versatile pedals that are still with you and have constant delays .. I repeat, I understand the business, but can you make an update for those tied to this pedal so uncomfortable for you? you can do an update for this microphone as you did for the blue voicelive. and make updates. We are users too, not second class. It is correct that we are followed or not abandoned, as you do with the older pedals that still have your support .thank you

Play GTX can't respond to MIDI tempo input, sorry! You're basically missing out on tempo being set for the delay, but you can still tap that in or save it to the preset. Since vocal/guitar echo taps start when you make sound, as long as the BB and the GTX are set to the same tempo and you sing/play on time, it should sound pretty lined up.

Hi Craig, I"m Sam from India.. I've jst bot dis a month ago frm amazon....and now am having a serios issue wid its display :( all the tones r working but only a blank blue screen is showing..plsss help me with this :) its only A Month or Two Old !!
@tchelicon10 жыл бұрын
Hi Samji,If it's a month old Amazon may be able to do a direct replacement for you as a DOA product. If not, support.tc-helicon.com can handle a warranty repair. Keep in mind that the repair must be done in the country of purchase, so if you bought it from Amazon US and are in India, you'd need to ship it overseas.

Which one is the best gtx, play electric or play acoustic???
@tchelicon7 жыл бұрын
GTX has inputs for both guitar and MIDI, which can be appealing for some people, but it's also discontinued. Play Acoustic and Play Electric are more specific to each of those guitar types and don't have MIDI, but do have improved guitar sounds over GTX. Hope that helps. :)

TC-Helicon why did you ditch the midi?

What's the difference between voice live play gtx and play electric ?!
@tchelicon6 жыл бұрын
The differences are discussed in detail on our community forum! Here are two discussions that should help you: forum.musictribe.com/showthread.php?16182-Voicelive-Play-Electric-VS-play-GTX-(vocal-part) forum.musictribe.com/showthread.php?16321-Play-Electric-vs-GTX

i recently purchased a TC Helicon play electric and I'm devastated to find out it has a Mayor deficiency, a popping sound, static and it crashes always and sometimes it doesn't even start! i look this up thinking the mail service dropped it or whatever but now i see its something that happens to most play electric and acoustics... now people tell me to buy the Gtx... anyone has a Gtx and can tell me if it has something as bad as a play electric?
@tchelicon9 жыл бұрын
+Foxuniverso It's definitely not common to have pops, static, clicks or crashes. We have had a couple of firmware fixes in the various Play products for that type of thing though, so make sure you're on the latest firmware.

+TC-Helicon i googled for fixes and i found nothing :/ which is a shame cos i returned it xD i guess ill try buy one again next year...

love the product. have been using for years...problem...''guitar thru'' has never worked. ...i never really worried too much but now it's becoming an issue. any thoughts from anyone out there who would like to help out.
@tchelicon7 жыл бұрын
Heya, can you explain a bit more about how it's not working? It should be hardwired to the guitar input right in the jack itself.
@dkkrecords7 жыл бұрын
absolutely. thanks for getting back to me....if possible i hope we can get an answer within 72 hours. (doing a show friday night my time....friday morning east coast time).....the jack from the guitar instead of into input goes straight into 'thru'..but once it does....'no guitar sound'.....for a few years...(i was always using the patches from gtx) i didn't worry about it..but i use the vocal harmonies heaps...and wanted to get a slightly different sound from the guitars i was using.....but once it goes to thru...there's no sound being sent to the pa, mixing desk etc......i figured it had to be hardwired and was a no brainer....but it's not working.....any thoughts on this?......like i said ...thanks for getting back to me....

That's actually the intended use of the Thru on all of our products. The intent of the thru is that you're not using the signal processing in the TCH gear, but rather going out to pedals/amp, multi-effect etc. of your choice. The purpose in that case of the in/thru for us is that we "capture" dry guitar chords to use for harmony key/scale before the signal goes "thru" to your other guitar setup. If you still want to use an external amp, but also want to use the effects from the GTX, I'd suggest putting the unit in "dual mono" output mode (1 vocal and 1 guitar output), turn off "Speaker Sim" in the setup menu of the GTX and then use an impedance matching XLR to 1/4" cable to get from the GTX to your amp. That way, all the effects like reverb etc. are still used from the GTX, but the amp provides the sound of the speaker. You can decide whether to use distortion on your amp or in the GTX, depending on what you like better. If you decide to use your amp's distortion, some people find that using an FX loop on the amp (if there is one) is a better way to go signal path wise. You'd go into your amp, out of the FX loop into the GTX guitar input, then back to the FX loop return on the amp, still using the impedance matching XLR to 1/4 cable for that part. Hope that helps and gives you a few options to try!

I am using VoiceLive Play GTX friends. say it is a fine singing voice diiiiiitttttt microphone. How can fix this problem?
@MoriahWoods7 жыл бұрын
Hello Tc Electronics. I've been learning the Gtx, I've had it for a few months now, at first it seemed great, clear and without interference, however, recently as I've been singing I've begun to hear strange glitches and hiccups in the line, especially when hitting higher notes. As well as some line interferences, it isn't so clear and powerful, like going through a clear line. Could this be the result of some wrong settings? Or could it be a computer defect? Thank You for your help.
@tchelicon7 жыл бұрын
Is it harmony voices that are making incorrect note choices from time to time or is it the overall output sound of the unit?
@MoriahWoods7 жыл бұрын
TC-Helicon it is the over all sound output, it happens the same between the 3 tweaked presets that I'm currently using. I'll be singing, and suddenly a very brief warped glitchy sound will Interfere. However it never alters the acoustic guitar sound. I had it hooked up before my last gig, the sound engineer suggested I disconnect it entirely as it was creating "noise" in the line. After removing it from the line I could clearly hear the difference...

Can I plug this to irig pre?
@tchelicon8 жыл бұрын
Sure can. Just watch gain staging on the iRig. The incoming signal will be hotter than a normal mic input since it's already preamped inside the Play GTX.

Hello, does TC Helicon have a drum pedal/machine similar to the upcoming BeatBuddy? See kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZOtd4GVqbZmbK8. It will be great if TC Helicon can include/incorporate it on this VoiceLife Play GTX that will also include a separate software to pre record/sequence the rhythms on a computer then save them on a mini SD for the drum pedal to use. And maybe adding more foot switches on the Play GTX to control the drum pedal (like fill rolls, end rolls, breaks, or any additional percussion). This will then be the "ultimate one man band gear". Cheers!

The higher harmonies on this pedal are ALWAYS female and the lower ones are ALWAYS male. So if you want higher harmony and your a man, it has to be a woman's voice. And it sounds like an alien.
@tchelicon9 жыл бұрын
meek weeks The higher voices are not specifically male or female. They're direct shifts from your own voice. By nature of shifting the pitch, things are recognized as more male or female based on our perception of voices in those ranges. Some of our products, like VoiceLive 3, have a gender option per-voice that you can use to raise or lower the gender of the shifts to sound a bit more realistic, within reason. Also, keep in mind that any time you shift to a very high or low note, it'll sound less realistic because the shift amount is greater.
@Meek4Weeks9 жыл бұрын
When I choose "Octave Up" for instance it has a picture of a women's silhouette. If I choose anything lower (e.g. low, lower, ocave down) it shows a picture of a man.
@tchelicon9 жыл бұрын
meek weeks We used male and female graphical representations because we felt people would relate to them better than some sort of other picture for octave up.

When will TC Electronics dump Tom Lange? It makes you not want to buy the thing fearing you will be a sqaure, lounge, crap song writer. No one on earth is as interruptive and smarmy. Just sucks. Very unlikable. Does the product no justice.

Sorry that you feel that way. We like Tom and so do many others. At least Tom doesn't come in the box with the product, so you can use it the way you want to ;)
