VOICEPLAY - Valhalla Calling (Analysis and Breakdown)
Music Teacher Reacts: Voiceplay!
We're back with more Voiceplay! And this time it's even better than you can imagine!
What a great use of harmony a pushes to make this song seem so damn powerful. There is a lot to breakdown here so don't forget to watch it more than once!
Sending love,
-DJ

This was done with such strength, each man was brilliant. The beatboxing was so amazing; I still have to remind myself, after a couple hundred views, that J did not smash through a heavy, creaky, wooden door on rusty hinges - it was all Layne!!

The sound is brilliant. One small issue, though. Vikings didn’t have hinges. It just occurred to me. LOL. Do I care? Nope!

@@lkayh Probably, but I ’m going with the theory that they had leather hinges which really would make the creaky sound!

They out do themselves every time! I cannot stop watching this, it is amazing!! Geoff hits 3 B0's! Eli has become the Asgardian god of rock, Layne is a beatboxing god, Cesar has become a Berserker, and J None has shown us that rap indeed belongs in acapella! And Miracle of Sound gave this 10 out of 10 raised ale horns!! Great reaction! This from the Assasins Creed Valhalla video game, but that rap is all J None!!

One of the reasons to sense “energy” behind this performance is the “staccato” cadence throughout. It builds energy, and keeps it rolling throughout. The visuals of pent-up anger and hype also add to the sensation. Even it the quieter moments, the background still has the 1-2-3-huh beat. What a performance! Eli blasting through the ceiling with his head/chest mix, Ceasar with typical energy but uncharacteristic depth and pent up emotion, Layne and J. their usual greatness, and Geoff…is his voice getting deeper?

They def pulled out all the stops here. And you are right, so much energy. Even Caesar just went mad

They know exactly how to make us feel what they want us to. Their arrangements are one of the big things that makes VoicePlay stand out. VP and Geoff (on his solo channel) always manage to surprise us and keep us wanting more! I was pumped up and ready for war after this one!!

Thank you for another great reaction to Voice Play. You're top notch. In all your videos your opinions both good & bad are appreciated. You point out so many things we miss. Please do a reaction video to Geoff Castallucci cover of Sounds Of Silence. He has a way of reaching deep down into your soul with this one. It starts off so sad & towards the end he really opens up.

You should Please do a reaction video to Voice Plays cover of ( Peaches ) Bowser, Mario, Luigi & Toad. It is a Jack Black song. Geoff really unleashes his inner Rock God in this one along with his low bass notes. At the end one of Layne's daughters makes a cameo appearance. It was done live outside a mall. Most likely the mall where Patty-cake studios is. It's a mini but totally awesome.

You’re more educational than the average reactor. I like that. Subscribed. 😁 You may want to look at their cover of Seven Nation Army. I don’t know if that just had tons of push or what but it’s intense.

I love how very few reactors even acknowledge Geoff's 15 second B0. It's too low for people to even register haha.

This is my new Voiceplay fave. I listen to it on repeat for hours. I find Geoff a little scary in the video, but it just adds to his talent and attractiveness...as if he needed it!

The energy is off the charts. You want to go pillage (Ok, maybe at the mall 🤣). But it hits the feel - the yearning to be remembered in myth and legend.

The karaoke track is amazing and I think you can really feel that constant build of energy while listening to it. The first part of it is what’s playing in the outro. When you were talking about the background adding so much to the energy, I was hoping you would pick up on the background in the rap session. When J switches rhythms they are all singing in the background “This is War.” (But in all fairness, I’ve listened to it a lot. This was your first time through and you were probably overwhelmed by that point!😊) It’s one of my favorite parts. I don’t know why but it gives me the chills.

Not sure about the energy. The AC had broken down in the studio so they were swealtering in those costumes. Maybe they just wanted to get it over with as quickly as possible. LOL But Cesar.normally so cute and sassy looking so fierce! You're right, they do it like no one else. Have you seen VoicePlay's Nothing Else Matters?

J.None's rap portion was written about his deployment and this was filmed while he was on leave from the Navy. The AC in the building where they did the filming wasnt working and being in florida it was very hot so the "sweat" effect was real sweat

Hei! In my first listen I didn't like it because of certain expectations and the rapping weirded me out. With a second listen, better. Appreciated the tenor voices that had some roughness. Appreciated the harmonies. I had to think of it not as a nordic song but as a gamer song.
