Another humble hero that fills in the picture of a Combat Vet and Vietnam Combat Vet a little bit more. I do enjoy listening to these folks and hold them in the highest honor.

A story told by Gen McFarland of a Huey pilot who was decorated with DSC after he took a round to his transmission and landed inside the firebase he was defending. He ran to the commander and asked what he could do to help, he was told a machinegun crew was KIA or wounded and he needed that MG back in the fight. Yes sir the pilot replied and he ran to the MG position, got it operable and began mowing down the NVA who were coming through the trees for a Bonsai attack. He'd spent all his ammo and they were still coming. He looked around and took an M16 and ammo from a fallen crew and began mowing more NVA down until he ran out of ammo. He then used his side arm and was hitting the NVA as they were getting close but again he was out of ammo. The looked around and all there were was knives, he didn't want to get into a knife fight and he saw a grenade attached to a load bearing harness on another fallen crew member. He grabbed the grenade and threw it as hard as he could and killed one of the NVA, the rest ran away. He stated he still wonders to this day if he could have killed them all had he pulled the pin on that grenade 🤣

This is a cool character, very reserved about his contribution. His unit lost 30 men, that says a lot. The infantry knew they could count on these aviators. Definitely have heard of the 189th AHC before.

I do appreciate this interview . But they answer the question why are you don’t have more subscribers it Hass to be answered honestly. Most of your interviews are not easy to watch. There are some you really question if the person was there or not. Some of the questions you ask you can see The person getting as frustrated with you as we are because you already have the questions asked when he’s already told you the answer before. This is just an honest critique. There’s just some others that are just very much easier to listen to interview someone. Again this is just being honest . Again sometimes you can be sort of rude and I don’t think you even know it. I understand completely if you drop me. Do appreciate your passion Making these interviews
