The radio call at 00:35 is from a Suns-Lakers game in the spring of 1993 (Barkley's first season with the Suns). I was a freshman in high school and I distinctly remember standing in the doorway of my bedroom when it happened. The game wasn't broadcast on KUTP-45 so I was listening to the radio on KTAR (two years later my dad ordered cable for the specific reason of being able to watch all the Suns games). The Suns were up by 20 entering the fourth quarter and absolutely blew it; the Lakers pulled ahead by 2 with a few seconds to go followed by Majerle hitting that ridiculous 3. It's the one time I can remember when a Suns' player hit a 3 and Al neglected to say "shazam".

Goodbye Al, my beloved Voice of the Phoenix Suns! 😭 You had been a part of my life since I became a Suns fan in 1993. I will be missing you when I watch every Suns game and I hope they will play a recording "SUNS WINS! THE SUNS ARE THE NBA CHAMPIONS!” in your voice when we finally win the Finals 🏆 one day! I had the privilege to say hello to Al McCoy and his lovely wife Georgia at the Famous Sam's in Glendale, AZ when they would come to listen to the swing/big band Extreme Decibel. I didn't want to bother him, just to thank him for all the great broadcasts of Phoenix Suns basketball.🎙️🔥🏀

He wouldn't have if Mat Ishbia gave him his old seat back. I do not believe Mat Ishbia is familar with Mr. McCoy or his history with the Suns.
