I married a Pakistani man from Abbottobad Northern Pakistan. We travelled through those mountains in 1985. It is so beautiful there. The people there are so physically beautiful. Of course outsiders never see the women. The most outstandingly beautiful in the world. The mountains are very high and I was frightened at those heights. I now understand why Acquamarine is so expensive.

I've bought ruby rough from a seller in Pakistan and a small aquamarine crystal. He's my most trusted seller and has sent me some beautiful stones. I've bought a few times from sellers out of India and have been ripped off. Needless to say I trust no one to sell me precious gems other than Pakistani people.

It's is true the people of gb is very beautiful and caring loving and popular because of there hospitality. But thing become so different 1985 from now is big difference if you visit now you will find them educated and advanced. Aquamarine is type of burial family which is expensive like emerald.

As a gemologist who grew up in Tucson, Arizona and has spent a good deal of time at gem shows, behind the glass cases, appraising, or buying at the wholesale level- I find these documentaries amazing and fascinating. It puts so much more meaning behind the whole process/system - even though I knew where they came from and how difficult mining is- it shows how many people and steps each stone/specimen goes through before it ends up in its final place.

I now know why this is my birthstone, as it's a symbol of purity. My soul might not be pure, but my intentions are always pure. Also I love the mountains I feel connected to this stone even more. As a kid didn't like it that much as it seemed a girly color blue, now I see this spectrum of blue is simply pure and should be appreciated as such. Patrick your videos inspire me to travel more, I have been to Alaska, Great Britain, Costa Rica, Italy, Switzerland, and have seen alot of America also Canada a few times. Thank you Patrick for showing such diversity of this planet and its people.

Aquamarine and emerald are different forms of beryl, which is beryllium oxide. Near Quadville, Ontario is a rock hounding site called the Beryl Pit. Many different kinds of collectible stones are found there. The beryl there ranges from deep blue to an aquamarine color. It is all opaque. The beryl pit was an active beryllium mine before WW2. In those days large crystals were excavated.

A little mistake in this video i found is believe of the villagers on shamanism but it may due to translation error. the villagers are believers in God and are Muslim so they don not see shaman as God or any authority. they use shamans words as just prediction not as message of God.

Every time I watch one of your docus I think: how interesting, this is the best one they made. But this time you showed us exceptional stuff. This is the Dom Pedro of your films. Thank you so much to let me see where my 3 rough aquamarines come from. ( All of 3 bought by Pakistani sellers during 2010s mineralogical evenements in Amsterdam & Den Haag...). Maybe I will find the resources to join your projects, after Covid restrictions, family stuff, and Job obligations, that put my aim into a really flimsy perspective, but...? My will is strong! Just a matter of luck and I'll follow you on the real-life track, even if not on 5000 m high mountain. I will settle for something less challenging, that doesn't imply going above 2000 m, where I m already have been and was tiring enough for my body. My real aim? Find my spiritual-enhancing stone.

A good coverage of Gemstone Trade Components, from artisnal mining to market, the subsequent lapidary processes, and manufacturing into jewellery. This is just one example of harsh and difficult climate and terrain, where miners extract Aquamarine, a single variety of Gemstone, to play their role in the most essential beggining part of supply chain, and ultimately the end user enjoys the outcomes of this adventure. Everyone who could support, should facilitate these miners for improved and safe mining techniques, by training and technology upgradation.
