Do you have any photos of the old police station on Westgate, next to the town hall? When I was very young back in the early 50's I lived in the house that was attached to the police station and overlooked the small prison. My uncle's bedroom was on the back and I seem to recall him once shouting out that a prisoner was escaping over inot our back yard.

My mum grew up on Bramah Street, just at the bottom of Grays Road in Carlton. Where is the res in Monk Bretton???? 😶

The res is behind the pheasant pub on cross street. It’s an underground reservoir.
