I remember the lady at the front of the picture of the confectionery stall at the Odeon Cinema. I worked at the Midland Bank at the top of Market Hill from 1967 to 1974 and at that time the Odeon had continuous double bills with the second showing of the main feature usually starting around 5pm. I used to race down to catch the start of this film after work usually emerging around 8.30 before catching the bus home to Havercroft. I think I must have seen practically every film shown there during that seven year period. As a point of interest I spent the first ever 50pence piece there and I remember the cashier being very excited and calling all the rest of the staff to see it. I miss the old ten bob notes.

Great memories John - I miss the old 10 bob notes too, they just seemed more substantial and worth more.

Youv'e missed a fair bit of development then - Iv'e got 46 years over you and to be honest I did love the old market and many many shops - but time changes
