The Z1 900 was the first 'Superbike' - I rode one of the first ones in Australia from Brisbane to Melbourne around 1972 - on the highway with 6 cars in a line in front of me doodling along at maybe 50mph, I wouldn't bother to change down, I'd just wind the throttle in top gear, and hang on for dear life to not get pulled off the back by the acceleration. I would typically be doing 100mph by the time I passed the sixth car. Relative to anything else on the road at the time, I certainly felt like King of the Road !
