Volantex P51 style customization. RC P51 Mustang.

I changed the looks of my Volantex P51so it would stand apart from the rest. I wasnt trying to make it look perfectly scale, just a little less like a "toy" plane. the video doesnt show when I did the actual spray painting of the Chome and Blue but just spray very light coats from about 16 inches away and should be fine ( spray paint can EAT foam if too close) . also allow a couple days to dry between color application and be aware that tape with strong adhesive will just pull off the paint easily. I used scotch clear tape very lightly applied.

Been thinking about pulling the trigger on this one now that I'm seeing them for around $125. Have a arua 5 light flight controller and some 2 gram servos set aside so i can can the stock electronics due to seeing lots of people having trouble with the one thats in it. Did it fly good for you with the stock brick?

It was a rough learning curve lol. It flew ok. I learned alot from it. Check out my other videos of flights (and crashes) with this plane. I'm getting alittle better all the time 😊

Very cool. Nothing like personalizing a ready to fly plane to make it your own. I did some power and paint mods to my 400MM mini mustangs, but the more I detail a plane like yours, the more likely the chance that I will total or lose it. ;-) Great work. Happy flying!

Thanks! I've managed 5 flights so far with little damage(all repaired) . Part of the fun is modifying the looks so they look cool while sitting static. Hoping to move up to a fully manual flying plane someday. Cheers and happy flying to you as well.

@War History I use Rust-oleum spray cans myself. Apply light coats. OK with EPP foam but do not use on EPO foam like that used on Eflite and Parkzone airplanes.

Hey I appreciate the effort and I looks great but the video is hard to watch in the narrow format. It won’t even allow a good wide screen view. I would like to see a full screen format.

Nice Job! thanks for the video/ideas.... I'm expecting mine whenever it gets here! I was not pleased with the looks of the cockpit either... now I know what to do 'bout it. :) Chrome paint looks great! I am not happy about the Grey/Silver Volantex selected for both small+Large P-51D Mustangs, I have the small 4CH Eachine Mustang so-far. Am also looking forwards to the flight video! any thoughts on trying 3S?

Thanks, just remember light mists with the spray paint and it seems to take a very long time to dry. I cant wait to fly mine buy I'm waiting for my xk a800 small powered sailplane to show up first since I've never flown yet and only have practice on a simulator app. I'll learn on the xk a800 first then try my P-51. Maybe then I'll move up to 3s. let me know if you try it.

On 3S it's scary. Also I like the original colours, very visible. I personally might change the paint colour under the wings and elevator
