I was introduced to Volbeat by a friend in late March of this year. "The Devil's Bleeding Crown" was the first song I heard. I new instantly that I had a new band fighting for the top rung on the ladder of koolness. Best total package band I have heard in many many years. About 3 weeks later the worst, most horrible, soul shattering event in my 42 years of life on this rock happened. I crawled into bed with my wife of 10 years who had fallen asleep about an hour before I joined her. The 2 previous days she had stated that her chest was sore and odd feeling. I asked many times if she wanted to go to our doctor or an emergency room. Being the toughest, strongest person I have ever known she of course declined the offers. The name her elders gave her at birth in her ancestral language of German was "Battle Maiden of Three Cities" and being a Warrior she said the pain will stop soon and she will be fine. When I got into bed I noticed that her breathing was very shallow and labored. I tried to wake her with no success. Then, My Queen, My Goddess, My best friend who after 10 years still gave me butterflies when we touched and I loved more every day.... she stopped breathing, no pulse.. I started CPR and called an ambulance. With every breath in blood came out. Her lungs had filled with blood. I tried with all my being to save her... I saw the light fade from her eyes.. she died in my arms before the paramedics arrived. I failed her in her most dire time of need. I am nothing now. Only bitter dregs remain. In my times of overwelming sorrow and dark thoughts I listen to Volbeat and after 5-1/2 months I'm still here. Damn powerful music. My Mom just had surgery to remove cancer from her lung and I must be here for her. I don't know how long I can keep my self together but, Volbeat has helped to somewhat hold on to sanity in my broken heart and mind. Thank you Volbeat. Much love.
