We love Volcan and have lived here for six years. This is the driest and warmest that we've seen it (record high according to our weather station we've had for three years of 86 yesterday). There are many families with children of all ages here and we have a thriving homeschool community. You almost made it to our property in your video (with the white tower). Much of the property around here is larger than property in Boquete and you will see many fincas with cows as a lot of the dairy for the country comes from this area. Thanks for posting a video of our town!

@panamareg Жыл бұрын
Volcan is not the next Boguete. Volcan will be much bigger than Boquete because the area is much larger and there are multiple ways in and out of Volcan. There is enough room in the central Volcan area that a city could easily be built. The roads continue on to Serrano on the Costa Rica border, Cerro Punta, and also Caison through Barriles. Boquete is in a small grotto at the end of the road although very nice also. Many of us chose Volcan on purpose to avoid Boquete because of the large expat influence in Boquete.

This was a bit difficult to listen to. Some advice: If you come to Volcan [pronounced vol-CON] due to the changes in the Friendly Nations Visa, you will be required to purchase property. It a terrible change in the law. It increases the price of everything as more and more Ex-pats move here. And the locals know it. There's going to be some things you don't like. Keep in mind that you are a guest. People call themselves "Ex-pats" but they are immigrants. That's okay. Panamanians run things the way they do. For example, if you go to a fonda [pronounced PHONE-da] you will likely be served in a styrofoam container with plastic utensils. Less than ideal but that's they way it is. Darn tasty, very inexpensive. You know who isn't concerned with "plenty of parking"? Panamanians. Most get around by bus and taxi and it's fun and VERY inexpensive. A great way to practice your Espanol. You don't need a car. If you have ever found yourself complaining about fuel prices in North America, just wait. Want to get to a trailhead? Get a taxi. How do you get back? They will wait for you. Much more expensive but over a year, not having a vehicle will save you a ton. If you must have a vehicle, you don't need a giant SUV. Those monstrosities are pompous and out of place. You are likely going to have a housekeeper. Get to know her, practice your Espanol with her and understand she likely has an hour or more commute just to help you. Thank you for your consideration. Edit: Don't surprised if your housekeeper call in sick. She deals with nasty cleaning products all week, all year. Give her a break. Avoid solvents and bleach and such. It's mean. Ask her use use your benign products.
