The skills have been leaked for everyone but the bear lady named Gerda and Shemira. So spoiler warning but at the beginning of battle, Callan absorbs all the damage adjacent allies take. He also has a regular skill that mimics Thoran’s ult, soaking up damage and releasing it. He also has a skill that does a map-wide damage and stun when an ally’s health gets too low, but I think it happens once each battle.

At the beginning of the fight, he seems like he's asleep or something and then when the shield breaks, it shows a graveborn eye open. I wonder if he's got some weird mechanic where he's not active immediately until he takes damage or time passes like Scarlita. On the other hand it could just be something for the boss battle.

Seems like a tank you’d use in a comp where your secondary tank is more of a dps role, especially if that aura around him gives shield to allies within it. Valka does seem like the better unit but it’s hard to tell since not all the skills are seen or used in the boss fight.

I guess he would be a good support like tank that can keep the back line units alive but I don't see him being too useful against PvP for the most part especially against Burst teams but his Shield at the beginning might be game changing in PvP as well so it's a bit up in the air

Given that he's a magic tank I suspect he's meant to counter magic, I wouldn't be surprised if his ult interacts with incoming magic damage. Of course that's me assuming Valka is purely physical. I'm also assuming Valka is invincible during her rolling frames, so if that ring around him has any sort of damage or debuff there's a chance that's why we didn't see anything. It might have been a good idea to add a magical damage dealer to test my theory about the shield and maybe use Korin to see what happens if an enemy stands in that ring around him. Otherwise it might be some sort of aura for allies.
