well done. Except that i prefer to disconnect the battery. Of course you have to deal with radio memory loss in some cases, but you avoid shorting out a tool with the alternator connection, since you are in close proximity of the alternator battery connection like at 11:50 of this video. Also, you dont want any spark in proximity of a possible fuel leak. I've had my share of seeing the underhood area of a vehicle suddenly burst into flames.

However, he failed to mention after doing the manifold swap there is a strong possibility you will need to *realign the throttle body* if you don't it's a good chance your VW might develop some Dum asz disease and the computer wont recognize itself until its electronically programmed over again. Genius fucking design. I've already had to deal with replacing the water pump, coolant flange, lower heater hose, radiator fan assembly, vacuum pump (which I deleted), and the list goes on. This car drives me crazy with cooling system issues, the water pump was the worst one to do. I have a CEL P0118 for temp sensor high input, so I'll try replacing the temp sensor, and if that doesn't solve it, then I'll just have the dealer replace the thermostat. I am for sure getting rid of it once that's fixed, I am done with this fucking car. It should've been an easier fix, but of course you have to remove major engine components. I should've saved up for the GLI instead.
