Hi Jack that's a really helpful video. I'm installing mine on a four door GTTDI this weekend (one I bought from Germany 2nd hand) and a number of the wires are cut so I hope you might be able to help guide me if I get stuck? Thanks, Charlie (near Bath, SW England)

What’s the name of this hitch? I’m looking to install one for my golf mk4 tdi and I really like this look a lot compares to drop one

I went to a salvageyard and took it of a car. So don't know the exact type.

My question is do you think it can handle the weight of the car as a jacking point?

I think yes.

You jacked up the rear using the circular piece on the rear subframe where the hand brake cable goes - is that a proper jacking point :O?
@JackTekkel4 жыл бұрын
Strongest point on the rear of the car.....handbrake sits between the axle mounting point. Mounting point sits below cable, no way of damaging it. Even on the lift I use those points on the back.

Useful info thanks. Only 2 bolts to hold it on? I think they need to be torqued correctly!? I am about to attempt my fitting of a witter towbar. Cheers from UK
@JackTekkel6 жыл бұрын
Zero Point 4 bolts! And no torqing, it isn’t a crucial torque. But if you don’t trust yourself, be my guest and torque them. Cheers.
@TheHeartCharmer6 жыл бұрын
@@JackTekkel thanks. I got the tow bar on ok. Yes of course it is 4 bolts. They are all in and tightened up. Called it a day now as late and dark. Tomorrow I tackle the electrics and put the rest of the car back together. Cheers.

You just crushed the passenger side parking break line... The first take looked like you ACCIDENTALLY missed. The second - the line was obviously between the jack and the structure. ATLEAST LOOK UNDER THE VEHICLE TO MAKE SURE YOU ARENT CRUSHING STUFF! WTF?
@JackTekkel4 жыл бұрын
Didn't crush anything....The parking "BRAKE" "CABLE" is between 2 "ears"on the control arm, it's impossible to crush if you jack under one of the two ears. It moves a bit. I know because I always jack up under those points, even on the lift and always check if anything gets pinched. Parking cable is fine and handbrake works great (1 percent difference between left and right), so please don't be a drama queen.
@sprinkhole584 жыл бұрын
@@JackTekkel uh huh... so what was the line between your jack and the body @ 0:15? Edit: Not trying to be a d!ck - you just might want to get back there and ensure the right side still actually functions. Edit again - I see now that those "ears" would protect the line in most cases. Still seems like a gamble.
@JackTekkel4 жыл бұрын
@@sprinkhole58 yeah it's difficult to see on video and it seems that the cable is getting pinched, but it's protected by the shape of the control arm, that thick steel piece (ears) don't know correct word in english. So the weight of that part of the car is not on it. I jack it up on the control arm mount, because sometimes these cars are rotten on the backside of the body and you destroy/deform it if you place the jack there. It's a habbit. In the past I pulled the handbrake cable out of the way, but it's really not that big of a deal if you know what you're doing.

Momentsleutel gebruiken, je gaat je bouten wel is een keertje breken denk ik ;)
@JackTekkel5 жыл бұрын
