Love the video however if you are not keeping the OEM radio then simply grab a flathead screwdriver and pop the faceplate off. Then using a pair of needle pliers pull at the 4 secure points where the tools normally would go, slide the radio out and you are done.

Worked first time. Thank you. The aerial lead disconnected though as I pulled the radio out and there is not enough lead to pull out to re-connect to the radio. I will have to take some of the trim off I suppose under the steering wheel to get access to the back of the radio.

Great video, thanks man. Although you can do all that with just one knife that fits in those 2 gaps :) Just fit the knife in one gap, pull one side of the radio out, then fit the knife in the second gap and pull out the second side. Then you can just pull the radio out, no special tools or anything else but a knife is required.

On this radio there is button for balancing between left or right side speakers. Is there any possibility to choose balance between front and rear speakers? All of my rear speakers wont work.So i don't know are they just in quiet mode, or they are dead. It is weird how none of my rear speakers won't work, i don't believe they're all incorrect. My radio is BETA, not GAMMA.
@paulmackilligin17547 жыл бұрын
Dunno about Beta and Gamma, but this radio looks the same as mine and has both left-to-right balance (BAL) and front-to-rear balance or fade (FAD). If yours has no FAD button then I guess it has no rear speaker output, and that might explain why you have no sound out the rear speakers.
@Headingmashine17 жыл бұрын
Paul Mackilligin I bought other radio, gamma version, and now all of my speakers works fine. Beta have only two outputs.

can I connect AUX instead CD changer? if yes - how?
@risto9938 жыл бұрын
yes you can, depending on the stereo. VW gamma has several options like the xcarlink adapter, which let's you switch between the cd player and aux and maintains all steering wheel and on the radio controls and so on. On a VW beta on the other hand the aux cable needs to be replaced with the extention going from cd player to the head unit, and you can even add a little switch between so you can choose to play cd or aux, no support for the controls on the head unit tho. Google is your friend.
@cormacbrowne7 жыл бұрын
I couldn't get this to work - possibly the card I used was not strong enough. A long flat piece of metal of similar dimensions worked instead (no need for hook design - radio pops out and you can grab it by the cassette door). Metal piece was only c.5cm in height - similar to a hacksaw blade in fact, only thicker.

This didn't work for me, I think the cards are too flimsy and they wouldn't hook on. Lucky they didn't break and totally jam it for when my proper metal keys arrive. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I used the thickest old card I had.....
