That auto trunk hatch lift is definitely aftermarket. Mine doesn’t do it and I’ve looked into it, ECS tuning sells a kit to make it do that. Also I had to use an OBDeleven to get the window up/down feature to work. I’m pretty sure all USDM cars don’t come with that option stock. It’s in the car’s system but turned off. Really easy to do if you have either VAGCOM or OBDeleven though. The euro cars get all the cool stuff OEM hahaha. Nice video man!

Hatch pop is an aftermarket mod. Most these cars can’t do that stock.

The NORTH AMERICAN market GTIs have all those features disabled. He clearly got mega lucky buying a used one that had all its features reactivated. A new GTI out of the dealership does NOT do any of this stuff, which is why VW is not a good deal. For $30k for a new GTI, the cheap bastards should make all that standard. My parents' minivan has those features and costs less than my car!

Did you buy it used? The previous owner did a few mods, specifically with the rear hatch and the coding for the remote features. These are not standard features lol.

Cool stuff. My car was coded to lock/unlock VIA fob after the car has been started. Similar to yours hut with the remote instead of the physical key.

It's too cold to test it out but it's also coded for full window roll down through the remote so I'm sure its was done like yours was

I know it's a different gen, but my MKV only unlocks the hatch with the middle button. I can purchase a kit to have it pop from ecstuning, I believe. I also can't roll up/down my windows remotely, but I can by holding the key in the lock/unlock position in the driver side door. I can get the windows to open/close remotely if I program it using carista and a ODBII plugin if i wanted though.

Hey question I see you highly recommend the intercooler upgrade, what was it like without the upgrade on that specific tune, as I have a 2013 mk6 gti and would like to get the same Cobb tune

I bought the car with the intercooler upgrade already done and only tuned it afterward. I’m able to run Stage 1+ with no worries at all and i’ve run the Stage 2 tune and the car feels good. If you watch my interview on this channel with my buddy who has a MK7 he did a track day with the stock interocoler and a time and the engine blew a piston causing him to have to replace the entire block. Basically you can run the tune but it could literally blow your engine at any time if you don’t do just use it for quick bursts (I.e highway on ramps). If you’re gonna do a lot of spirited driving or track days do the upgrade to be proactive. It’ll save you in the long run.

Interesting, on my 2012 GTI after I shut off the engine with the windows down, I open the driver’s side door I can close all windows and sunroof by holding the driver’s side window switch up. Keep holding the switch in the up position until all windows and sunroof close.

snekan, do you live in the US or Canada? Cars sold there have the features like that removed. You have to buy a $90 cable to reprogram the car to do all that. There is no setting in the touch screen menu for those features.

I've had mine for a year, thankfully it's been reliable even with a Stage 1+ ECU tune, however I do have an upgraded intercooler which I have recommend. Mine is a 2012 with DSG transmission. Happy to answer any other specific questions :) Thanks for watching Tan!

@@shouldigetit Mmmmmm, where do I begin with my experience owning an MK6 GTI. 1. Constant oil consumption from new that gets progressively worse till you are using 1ltr/1000km. They dealers and VW say there's nothing wrong with it until the warranty runs out then it suddenly needs new pistons, rings and conrods at my cost (what a bunch of deceptive cunts). 2. timing tensioner fail requiring new head. 3. diverter valve fails 3 times. 4. timing chain stretched requiring early replacement at 77,000kms. 4. various issues with leaks and broken bolts on the chassis. 5. lets not mention the water pump. The constant oil consumption caused carbon build up and detonation. One of my rod bearings started making noise because of it. I think that's all of it. I'm hoping that car will become a distant bad memory that I forget sooner than later.

Alot of the features hes showing are not stock in the USA the windows need to be coded, the rear hatch needs to be coded and equipped with the kit from ECS tuning, as well as those are euro taillights, if your in the US look into obd11 to unlock these features for like 65$

Your key fob window thing is not common. It is a software reprogram. Also, the hatch opening up like that is because someone switched out the hatch arms. Everything else you've shown is common knowledge and not surprising or secret.

In the U.S they're sold as the GTI, a variant of the Golf which comes with a 2.0 liter turbo 4 cylinder rather than the smaller 1.7 liter 4 cylinder of the base Golf (speaking of MK7 engine size)
