Volkswagen Passat B6 B7 CC changing key fob remote battery

Replacing key fob battery in Volkswagen Passat B6, B7 or CC. You can replace discharged remote battery yourself, without need for reprogramming or pairing with car. Battery model is CR2032.

Bought yesterday R-Line passat 6 2010 very nice, the second remote doesnt unlock the car and the button seems to be jammed, doesnt move when pressed, any fox for that?

Most likely the microswitch is jabbed and needs to be replaced.

If one of the remote functions works, then the battery is OK. Check if the remote is not broken, for example by water damage.

random question. How the preheating remote is suppose to function? It has ON / OFF, but pressing them doesn't seem to do anything. Do I need to set it up inside car somehow first or something? (pre-heating settings) ... or just probably out of batteries. Because didn't see light blinking on remote itself (I suppose, it should?)

Remote should blink. HVAC unit should turn on when you press the button.

thank you. Asked someone else as well, got same answer. (before reading this comment) But seems in my case it simply ain't cold enough yet outside, I got told that it wont work if its over 4C* and my battery might need switching as well.

AFAIK this should work in all temperatures. When it's hot it will not use the heater and just the blower to ventilate interior.

I did the same. the battery was CR2025 and I put CR 2032, can I have problems?

No issues. The 2032 has the same 3 Volts. It just has a larger capacity, hence it will last longer in your keyfob 👍🏻

Yes. Depending on the type of Fob, in the one in the video, remove the spare manual key from the fob. Remove the plastic cover on the driver's door handle. Press the Unlock button on the fob. Unlock the door with the spare manual key within 1 minute. Switch on the ignition using the fob (without starting the car). Done. Replace manual key and door handle cover.
