Just purchased this exact car and love it. Bought the car as my wife and I plan to do a lot of touring for our holidays and this is the perfect car for cruising in. As an owner of two Audi's (Q7 and an A5 - traded the A5 in) the V8 Touareg is a great package - $30,000 less than an Audi with the same features, plus a 5 year warranty. Have had engine sensor problems with both Audi V6 TDI engines ( same problem on both - same engine) and would not buy another expensive car with a 3 year warranty.

Please forgive my ignorance ... but, could someone please explain the issue of the fan speed controls? I don’t get why, with a climate control system where you set the preferred temperature, you also want/need to manually adjust the fan speed. I’ve been driving cars with climate control for twenty-odd years and the only adjustments I ever make are to the temperature and the vent/outlet settings. Perhaps I’m unusual in this regard? Would love to hear from others on this.

Thanks I enjoyed the review and totally agree about the long distance cruising comfort of the Touareg (I have had the Launch Edition for 20 months). Continuation of previous comments...the tow ball capacity for the V8 is only 240 kg. Why the 40 kg reduction with a much more powerful engine I don’t know but it’s definitely a case of buyer beware.

@elastotec1733 жыл бұрын
The X5 M50i with similar specification and performance(V8) is a minimum of $25,000 more expensive than the Touareg V8, has a 3 year warranty vs a 5 year warranty and for the combined cycle uses 11.5 litres/100 km of petrol vs 7.5 litres/100 km of diesel so is a lot more expensive to run.
@AP-mn4os3 жыл бұрын
@@elastotec173 You can routinely get a new M50i for $150k ($140k prior to covid pricing). Each to their own, but i think the X5 is an objectively better car, certainly in terms of build quality and performance. In fact, if you're going for performance (which obviously you are if looking at this v8), the X5 40i is as quick as this - for $20k less. They're both nice though, but this is too much for a VW.

I think that VW is a little bit confused with this car. Do they want to make it a rugged offroader or super luxurious SUV? If it is the latter, it won't work because Audi exist to attract the luxury market, just like Lexus is to Toyota, that is why Toyota does not waste time trying to make their SUVs luxurious, as long as they are appealing to farmers and ordinary people

VW must seriously has gone out of their mind to come up with such a large and thirsty Diesel engine when the world is slowly transitioning towards electric through switching to the gas first. Heck! With the current infrastructure in Australia, for anyone traveling large distances, electric vehicles are not an option and unlikely to be for some time yet. For Aussies towing their caravans, the v8 Touareg is is well worth considering even if it is a $130k VW.

@@rongambol9910 : It does makes sense as to still prefer diesel over electric or even gas when the charging infrastructure is still not established in the country and munching long miles or towing caravan is the prime importance.
