I bought my 2005 T5 high top with 250,000 on it but drove sweet. The guy who owned it ran a kitchen company so no bricks or rubble chucked in it AND it was ll really well boarded out (which took ages to get out) to do the insulation. She started to play up with limp mode so i took it off the road for 18 months and overhauled EVERYTHING underneath, (drive shafts, wheel bearings, suspension, uprated brakes disks etc and an new turbo and alternator.) It is NOW like a new van mechanically - now the camper build is on!! Already ripped out the double front seat and fitted captains and silent coated the doors and cab so far!! the doors shut like a Bentley now CLUMP.........instead of BOINGGG! Loads to do yet. Ive ripped out the stupid little useless roof cubby. In the middle of modifying it to take a double din head unit then Im redesigning the head lining shape and its getting a fibre optic headlining. The hole in the dash will then house a rear view camera monitor. I bought a pair of business jet seats that are going in the back with built in tables. You will do great with that van!

Blimey I though I had some work to do! sounds as though you have big plans, did you fit the extra front door seals to get it to close better? or something else? as mine make a bloody terrible noise closing 🤣

I have had 3 silver cars in the past, Opel and Ford. On each car I had to get a wing or bumper repainted. The repair panel guy told me that silver is the most different colour to match. Apparently the brighter the colour the most difficult to match. His advise was to buy a darker colour.
@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes2 жыл бұрын
Yes my painter said almost the same thing! Silver or Black can be a nightmare!🤔

interesting to watch, i will be keeping up with the whole build. Ive been waiting around the same time to build a van and plan to vlog it too but the prices at the moment are absolutely bonkers! i had so far avoided high mileage vans but i am slowlycoming around to being more open to high mileage.
@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes2 жыл бұрын
I think when it comes to mileage, people almost expect a VW camper to be at around 200k or they go for mad money! This One has at least had a lot of the necessary work done now. So should be good up to 300k (with luck) some unexpected things have been going on though, so stay tuned 🤪

Hi, The colour of the Van should be" Star Burst Silver"... This should colour match better than what you were given ... Is the van a 1.9TDI 4 cylinder .. as the van my buddy had was the T5 with the 5 cylinder 2.5 TDi, sold it with over 680 thousand on the clock ....Pp it was used as a Taxi .. :) :) .. I uspect you may have picked it up for around £2800 if the DMF was grumbelling when you put yer feet on and off the clutch peddle when you looked at it ... Andy
@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the paint name Andy, mine is the 1.9 and clutch seemed fine when I drove it, not slipping and no noise at all, only really noticed it when it was cold the next day! I wouldn't have offered what I did had I known it needed a new DMF to be honest 🥺 (decent guess on price btw) 👍

Did you ever reveal the price? I got a 1 owner 'kitchen fitters' van.. 2004. Very very clean. Tailgate model. 105k miles. For £4500.. did need a dmf tho
@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes Жыл бұрын
That's a great price for those Miles! depending on condition of course, the DMF isn't cheap, but at least you're sorted for a while, make sure the Cambelt has been done too, As to the price for mine, that's coming in the last video which will be uploaded this Month 😁

@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes ah that's good to hear... I know covid tax hit all vans but I was like am I paying double/triple of any other make n model van of that age just for the VW badge? Lol the dmf got done with new clutch and Cambelt and full service and few other lil bits... I coulda brought another van for that cost! But hey ho... hopefully me and my family shall get a few years of holidays and adventures out of it n it shall keep its value more than others?
@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes Жыл бұрын
@@D4VE26 It's all about condition and service history, if you get a good base van, you can add a lot of value to it once converted - but there are a LOT of sxxt boxes out there 🤣

05 Transporter possibly 1.9 SWB 225,000 miles in pretty good condition my guess is £3500 - £3750 on eBay, or £3250 to £3500 Facebook. Depends if it has history etc, condition on these is more important than mileage when you start looking at buying one, people ask daft money if the vans in good condition. I've see 200,000 mile plus vans advertised over 10k....
@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes2 жыл бұрын
That's One of the reason I opted for this van, the overall condition, and as it was a fleet van it has great history too, when we did the clutch you could see new drop links, brake pads all round, driveshafts etc etc, clearly well looked after :) (and very little surface rust for One of these!)
@infamous76762 жыл бұрын
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes do a 5.1 facelift conversion then you will get probably double the conversion cost back. 5.1 is more valued especially if you add a little front spoiler like a Sportline type. Nothing to mad , subtle then add Range Rover wheels - boom 8k all day..

@@infamous7676 Only problem is...... by then it would owe me more than £8000 🤣

@@woodyforest7308 Sounds like you got the deal of the Year at £2000! To be honest.... as it was that cheap, for the sake of around £300 I would get the cambelt and water pump, 👍
