My 2nd car is one of these VW UP that I use as a commuter. Its great on the highway actually :) I get around 0.42l / 10km on the highway. The comfort is good for the 100km a day I do. I have driven it for almost 300000km with no problems. Only normal maintaince. The handling is like a big car, only the suspension can be a bit harsh on bad roads since its a light car.
