I have to add that lefty are very often getting "fixed" in japan (it's the word they use), they are usually forced by everyone else including family and school to become right hander as soon as possible. @@marissaurias5116 IIRC, being born left-handed occurs in 25% or less of people globally, so one reason is that it's simply rare and for centuries rare could easily mean scary and something that needs to be get rid of. Culturally, there's been implications that left-handedness means some sort of demonic influence and many cultures to this day essentially treat the left hand as dirty (you only use it to wipe your butt, you don't wipe with the right hand and so on). Japan specifically teaches everyone to write and hold chopsticks right-handedly at school and home, so I can imagine left-handedness in teenage years and adulthood being rare after a childhood of getting your hand slapped for holding your chopsticks wrong. Makes for an easy signifier of talent and being special in anime and manga, though, to have a character be left-handed. It's almost a superpower in anime/manga about sports and games that require hands, like volleyball and karuta.

I know you asked for Coach Donny's opinion, but here is my 2 cents on this matter. For me, it's consistently putting myself in that same state of mind I was in. In a sense, reliving the moment. In doing that I become numb to the things that made it a terrifying situation, and scrutinise it to see if there was something I could learn from it. At times it's because I made the wrong judgement on something. Others because I misunderstood something. However it takes time. We (more like I) prefer to close ourselves off to bad memories, so it may take time to remember. It may take a few days, weeks, months or maybe longer. But this is just my own way in dealing with bad memories (i think they call it shock therapy). Everyone is different. Some maybe strong mentally or emotionally. They may have pride in themselves that they didn't know they had. In a sense, it's kind of like a journey of finding out more of yourself.

to clarify coach: we won't be having a different OP this time because Season 3 is just 10 episodes and is entirely focused only on the finals..hence the complete title for season 3 is "Haikyuu!!: Karasuno VS Shiratorizawa"

17:34 In this scene is very important the impact Nishinoya has on Tsukki: Tsukki was giving up the set just after losing the previous block were he thought "I just assumed I would lose as it was the truth", but then he sees Nishinoya that wants to fight this point with confidence: he was very surprised by his determination, even more after getting the point. After rewatching this moment I got the feeling that Tsukki's performance and attitude during the rest the match changed completely. I found it fascinating how can anyone change by inspiring from others. I can't wait to watch the rest of the season with you! Thank you so much for giving us your time with these reactions, they are marvelous😍😍

Coach, thanks to you I mustered up the courage to sign up for the informational meeting for my university’s volleyball club. I’m still apprehensive about it because they said that it’s as intense and competitive as the students make it since it’s student ran. Plus I’ve never played a team sport before or any sport seriously for that matter outside of gym class but I am grateful for all of the kind and encouraging words you bestow upon us viewers in every single one of your videos. Without those encouragements, and the help of a friend, I don’t think I would’ve been able to walk up to the club sport stand at our organization fair and act on my growing interest in volleyball. Admittedly this slight penchant for volleyball started from watching Haikyuu but it’s festered even more from watching your videos and being told that it’s never too late to try something new. Thank you for helping me find courage and being the voice of reason to nudge me one step closer to a new, and hopefully great, experience.

His name is Ushijima Wakatoshi, so they've been combining his names to "Ushiwaka", that's why it's so confusing to figure out what to call him at first

Can't wait to see what Coach Donny thinks of Tendo in the next episode. Based on the reactions we've seen so far, I think he'll really like him.

I could physically never be a volleyball player(Can explain), but i enjoy watching your videos so much! I saw a 'libero needed' poster in my school and instantly thought of you. Your commentary is easy to understand and you make the learning fun!

I love that end-of-video insight on confidence; plus it's so nice to get to see characters that differ yet are both... valid? or rather, neither is necessarily "wrong" or "incorrect"

I love that Suga got riled up to divert the nervous energy. Seeing someone far more nervous than you are might actually help alleviate some of that anxiety. I remember watching college classmates being nervous wrecks during practical exams and in a way it made me feel a sense of camaraderie and made me feel less nervous.

Totally relate to you being obsessed by the art. sometimes while watching, I lose focus on the story and instead just look at all the little details they spend so much time and effort into animating and after a while I realise I'm lost and need to rewind a little lolol
