Anderson was interviewed after the match and the announcer described how well the US was playing, how creative they were, how their offense was varied, etc. He was pouring on the compliments and asked Anderson how they do it. Anderson said, "Micah Christenson. He's the best setter in the world."

Shoji and Smith was part of the Polish team (Zaksa) that won the CEV. Smith even won the finals MVP. They are runner up in the Polish League. So playing against Poland gave them some sort of familiarity. But of course, the entire team is composed of well decorated players. Same with Poland. But in this game, US played their game plan well.

I mean it’s not like Poland’s got a complex game to plan against. They’re bigger than most, hit hard and serve well. You just have to be fundamentally better than them on the day.

@@RockAddicted7they have lots of talented players from the NCAA. Even some National teams have players who came from the NCAA. The reason probably there were few recruits is that few US players are playing Overseas (experience wise). Pay or talent fee is also one of the factors given that club teams can recruit easily from other countries with lower pay. It is not much of a Career for most of NCAA players that is why i really do hope US will have a professional league that will become as popular as other sport league there to accomodate their NCAA star players.

I completely agree with you! But I wonder... do you guys think DeFalco, despite being an amazing player, could also be a problem when it comes to some sorta teamwork-energy-a-team-needs-in-the-court? I tend to watch all the players reactions and every now and then I think he kinda overreacts and I honestly think it's not a healthy action. For instance, on 1:40 when Anderson gets blocked... from my perspective, his reaction was too much: while all the other teammates get together to huddle, he's from afar kinda angry haha.
@ashleyzhang3761

@@brunofreire10 That was my concern last year not just with TJ but even Micah sometimes. Someone would make a mistake or be slow to the ball and they’d get down on each other fast. I also hate it when TJ walks away from the huddle. But team chemistry seems way better so far this year and I notice more of an effort for the guys to come together after every point not more matter the outcome. Their jubilant post-match huddle after beating Poland was great to see. I’m optimistic and can’t wait to see them in person in Anaheim!

I can see the same result in the final today. However, I am not sure Jeff Jendrik and Aaron Russel will play. Here, we see solid blocks from the duo. Micah Christenson was also involved in the blocking quite often to support Jendrik and Russel. In the VNL last year, I have seen these 3 players formed a 3 blockers formation against oppositions. They are impressive in this aspect. But, I think Maxwell Holt, David Smith, Thomas Jaescke, TJ de Falco with support by Micah can do the same thing.

@@meninho3303 that is true kurek is still banging his attacks, but his game isnt as on point as before. And as for leon, he is prone to injuries and is getting older but he tried his best

As the host for the final round, hope Polish' coach is testing his team, essentially the setter. They need a better game creator!!

The horn from polish fans distracted their own players. They were the cause of their defeat.

Fornal needs to calm down and be humble lol . Happy to see him get humbled in this match after the loss haha. He always makes this staredown at his opponents, and he always starts it. Happened in a match against Italy too during the World Championship. Bro is good but he needs to chill. Whenever he plays in a match, I always want him to lose just because of his attitude 😂

I think it's just a bit of gamesmanship, instead of unsportsmalike behaviour. He does these things all the time even with his compatriots and he still seems very well loved by everyone.

He’s a fierce competitor and hates to lose. His looks are not to be snooty, they’re to intimidate, and also you need to make sure your ball drops before you walk away. He hasn’t been the scoring option this vnl as they’re trying to work Leon back into the offense. Fornal is mostly in the backcourt as a defender/passer/serve receiver, he hasn’t received that many sets. Just gotta love his effort and passion.

I can’t be the only person annoyed by the screeching horn sound or whatever that sound is. This game was hard to watch. Had to watch it on mute.

I hope that was a lesson to Poland - guys, you have to take serious every match and full focus. Tbh, Poland got really equal players and they can change main roster as they want. Besides Kurek, Leon, Fornal they got Sliwka, Kaczmarek, Bieniek, Semeniuk. They're also a big namesm, right?
