Volo, Itinerant Scholar and Haunted One Budget Commander Deck | MTG

Today, I'm going over a budget commander deck that I've built around Volo, Itinerant Scholar, a blue Background commander from Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate, with the Background of Haunted One. This deck has a bunch of Humans and Wizards with different additional creature types to make Volo a strong draw engine, while Haunted One gives those creatures Undying and +2 power whenever we tap Volo, letting us swing more aggressively as losing our creatures in combat will return them even stronger.

Love an interesting budget deck! The gates in the ramp and land package are a new one for me, I'll have to goldfish this a bit and see how it works for me. Thanks for sharing!

great job. this is a weird goofy tribal type deck but i can imagine that drawing 2-4 cards per turn cycle on average is pretty dope. I'd love to see this deck in action.

I built Volo // Haunted One as well and I love seeing the changeling side of the deck. My version went all out on odd creature Subtypes and leaned more to the aristocrats side of Haunted One. As a side note Relic of Legends, Retribution of the Ancients, any free sac outlet and the two commanders allow for infinite etb/dies triggers.

Interesting that there's an entire other route to go with this Commander combination in all of the Blue and Black enchantments that change all of your creatures' types into one specific type or add a type in addition

Cancel inclusion is a bit lazy, there's a ton of budget replacements that are strictly better like Neutralize, Stoic Rebuttal, Dissipate, Saw it Coming just to name a few. Also not sure about the enchantments that mill opponents when you draw - unless you draw 40+ cards these are do nothing cards, sometimes even helping graveyard decks. These are just nitpicks however, this looks like a really sweet budget deck. :)
