Volo IMO is the most underated and dangerous living thing in the Pokemon series. He's not even a trainer. That's not the reason. Unlike other antogonists, he doesn't have a team of minions who flock his name around or a special device to "control" pokemon. He's just this guy, some merchant, that the God of Pokemon considered Volo a universal threat... Nobody could stop him either. Think about the time-period: Just having a Pokemon walk with you was looked down upon and unheard of. If you had a Pikachu, the locals would question your mental health and ask "You're friends with that thing?!" They are literally considered MONSTERS (Pocket Monsters). You appeared so could introduce/open everyone to the idea of coexisting with them. Volo was ALREADY secretely doing that. By the time you showed up, he was making Giratina open space-time rifts (yes Girattina, that one Pokemon who controls the opposite dimension). If you didn't get in his way, he'd likely have Palkia and Dialga too. Edit: I'd like to think Cynthia is so strong because she has HIS genetics. He's basically would Cynthia would have been if she was evil and born in that time period.

I'm not finished with the game yet but I've got to the point where I need to catch all Pokémon to meet Arceus. Until your comment, I hadn't realized that's the reason Arceus sent you down. Maybe I missed something crucial in between. Though I think Volo's true intentions showing up towards the end of the game really hurt his potential as a true threat which would have been SO iconic.

idk if this has been confirmed or not, but I do think that we still play as Lucas/Dawn in that game and I do think it's a direct sequel to DPP. After winning the championship against Cynthia, Arceus saw it fit that the player should go back in time and defeat Volo as he is identical to Cynthia.

So if there is no volo he does not have a theme.

What i think is cool about volos theme and cynthias theme(this is just my thought process here) is volos theme is trying to be cynthias theme, but it isnt. Volos theme is activly trying to instill fear into you just like volo in his battle. But in the middle of this theme is hints of triumphant music, showing how you conquer the fear that volo tried to force upon you. Cynthias theme on the other hand, doesnt need to try and make you scared, it just does. Like you can hear the start of volos theme is more menacing than cynthias, as volo is activly trying to scare you. Cynthias theme, much like cynthia in her battle, doesnt try and probably doesnt even know that its scaring you. And cynthias theme has no triumphant parts because you dont triumph over cynthia, you just faint her pokemon. But the fear is still there But thats just a little thought i had. You dont need to listen to me.

Hello Erik! I have also been using this summer to get some things in order in my life. I also get piano burn out, man is it frustrating learning songs, even improvising or composing songs. Whenever I try to combine those two and arrange a song in my own way? Nah, I'll learn from sheet music (the first 30 seconds at least🥲 ) This was a great performance! I liked the pop-up of Approaching cynthia bc when I heard the intro I had to lean back like "wait a minute 🤨" Then in the description I realized they just have similar parts, which is really cool actually bc the differences probably are significant to the character/battle.
