Damn, I wish they made that color in 70-73 with the front end from those years. Man I'd LOVE that.

Had a '70 GTO convertible back in 1981 but always wanted one of these.

I drove one of these about 100 miles in the late 70's. What a car. Wish I could afford it.

Had my eye on these cars since the mid 80’s. They would occasionally pop up for sale here in Toronto but they were always Automatic 🙁. Awesome to see this 4 Speed beauty !!! Rare rare rare.

I had a 421 SD. When I rebuilt the engine I used 455SD rods. They were race rods. They were able to take 1000 hp. 455SD is very unique

Would love to see the rest of that collection in Georgia including the vintage pumps and neon.

It's amazing how collector cars have outpaced the stock market. 17 years ago this car probably sold for $34,000, now $130,000. Amazing return on an investment while also enjoying the time spent with the car. Thanks Jay for finding and showing these amazing cars!

It's close, but maybe not. Over the last 17 years, the S&P 500 has averaged just over 9% (including the current downturn). A $34,000 investment 17 years ago with no additional money would be about $150K today.

The way gas prices are going and the attempt to eventually eliminate gas-powered cars, I wonder how long this will continue.
@kanointhephilippines80822 жыл бұрын
@@imaouima It's hard to say. I no longer live there but feel for my family and friends that do. In the Philippines a small 125 cc motorcycle is the family transportation. This will be the last place to convert to EV. Life here is simple and like it was there 60 years ago. That is why I'm here.

@@imaouima A great question. I think collectors are getting aggressive right now in anticipation of nothing traditional being made new inside of 10 years.

And you've got storage, insurance and maintenance costs. And then if you drive it and enjoy it like you want then the restoration will start to degrade and the value will go down.

The History Channel did an excellent segment on the SD Trans Ams. Check "Modern Marvels", the 70s Tech episode. You'll see a stick 74 coming at the camera at full throttle with the classic Super Duty roar.

Don't say Screaming Chicken. It's a Firebird! That's what the base model was called. Pontiac Firebird. This is a Pontiac TransAm 455SD. Optional engine, with the shaker scoop on hood with 455SD on it. Super Duty engine. FireBird on hood.

Nothing says high performance like that corrugated drain pipe used for the air duct! Jeez, couldn't get one with holes in it for higher flow? 🏁🏁🏁

Way over priced! A 73 SD in pristine condition might be worth that, certainly not a 74
@clevlandblock2 жыл бұрын
So let's see...a one of 180 auto trans 73 SDs can bring 200k plus but a bumper change on a one of 212 4 speed 74s couldn't possibly be worth anywhere near that? After reading the 1973 Hot Rod magazine road test of a Pantera vs an SD-455 TA, I can see why you'd have thing against SD cars.
