You are a very charismatic person and I really enjoy your tech videos and blogs, every bit of them shows how much you are in love with all this audio stuff.

Using this method, is it still necessary to put batteries into the walkman or does the cv power it?
@SorchaSublime4 жыл бұрын
CV is at most 10 volts. Yes you would still need batteries.
@GrantBrenner7 жыл бұрын
Brilliant. You should try it with a tape loop so you can sample as you sequence.

does adding a Cv control affect the voltage needed to drive the player ? ie the battery or dc jack

Yay! That's almost the exact one that I have, and I've been looking for modification stuff for it!

Does this work only for sequencers or can it work for any module?
@breadfishfishfsifhis8 жыл бұрын
Damn you always seem to be doing interesting shit. I've been thinking about putting a voltage regulator into an old walkman in an effort to clone the onde magnetique. That can go on the "maybe one day" pile.
@hellfeatures45876 жыл бұрын
Great video and really cool sounds. Can I ask what is the sequencer you are using?

Spectacular! Any ideas on how to add a gate? I see that you're doing it with filters in your modular. I don't have a modular and would prefer to have the actual tape machine stop and start.
@rockhardfreak7 жыл бұрын
ive nerver done this, but you could just solder a jack to the on/off switch. so when voltage arrives, the walkman starts to play.

Many times, the line itself will serve to trigger. OR: If you record a gate into a tape, and then rewind and playback the recorded gate with the line out plugged into wherever you’re sending it, it will often suffice. It’s going to really depend on the particular gear in question, and the recording that you’re hoping to use as a gate source. I know that mixers had a push button gate or a tone that you Could record into a blank track as a test tone and gate source. Edit: I’m a moron when it comes to comprehension, you want the gate to stop and start motor... maybe if you made two of these guys, or if you don’t mind doing job of sequencer, a momentary push button?

Is there a way to add cv to the volume potentiometer as well? Sorry if thats a silly question I have no understanding of electronics
@demagmusic7 жыл бұрын
It would probably be easiest to just put a simple VCA on the output. You could also try strapping an H11F3 opto-FET across the volume pot, then drive the FET's internal LED with your CV signal

Great idea. Now I'm thinking old Fostex multi-track cassette recorder and chord harmony. Might work? Thanks for posting man.
@tiggerbiggo4 жыл бұрын
Fostex machines are pretty easy to circuit bend so yes this probably would work with a 4 track tape recorder :D
