LYRICS:
The sun goes down while children listen
All the way down
Black as a crow is the space in which you
leave me standing
All the way down.
If you'd seen the light of day
I'd hold you here tonight
And if you'd seen the light, we'd go
All the way down
Up there in space, you're looking down on us.
Looking all the way down
And if you fell to earth, they have a name
they call it, they say,
"All the way down."
If you burned your wings and fell into my arms
you know I wouldn't mind being
All the way down
I can't believe in Hell
but I've got to believe in Heaven
I wouldn't sleep at night not knowing
that you were somewhere better
If you burned your wings and fell into my arms
you know I wouldn't mind being
All the way down
All the way down
All the way down

I'm glad it could help you. It helped me too. I always say these songs are battle tested because I write them first and foremost to help myself through a lot of that same stuff. That's why I think they help others too. ; )

The Lair of Voltaire This song is incredibly calming to me. I don't really know why; But it calms my anxiety and suicidal thoughts ( which is thankfully a rarity now ) when I can't do so myself. Thank you, Mr. Voltaire. For creating such amazing artwork.

Voltaire, you don't know how much this helps. I've been composing lately to help me get through tough times, your music is such a huge inspiration and hearing you say that gives me a world of strength.

This song is SO underrated! It is a really beautifull song, and the lyrics are so sad but conforting. "I can't believe in Hell but I've got to believe in Heaven. I wouldn't sleep at night not knowing that you were somewhere better". I just love it. Thanks V for sharing!

This song is exactly what I needed to hear today... I had to put down one of my dogs (she was 13), and something about this simply put me at ease about the matter

Totally! lol! There were some black metal fans back in the day who were pissed because the bought the album because of the cover then whey they listened to it they were like WTF??? LOL! But on the other hand, many of them found they liked it despite not being "hard" so it went both ways I guess....

It truly does, in my mind you are one of the most intelligent (both as a person, and through your music) and innovative musicians of our time. Whenever I don't know what to listen to, I pop on one of your albums and I'm always amazed... Even after listening to them several hundred times, I can never get tired of them... Also your music has helped me for years now, in dealing with all the shit life comes up with to throw at me. But that doesn't matter... You're amazing! And thank you! Keep it up!

This song has pulled me through many hard times, it actually has strong sentimental meaning to me because it reminds me of those times, and how they can help bring someone through them..

To me, this is about losing someone and almost being forced to believe in heaven when you're still questioning your faith, especially after they've died. Also some gorgeous imagery/metaphors of burning their wings off like Lucifer to be there in what feels like Hell with you. I could take a guess who it was written about, but that's V's story to tell. To me, it reminds me of when my family passed away one by one and left me in what feels like a special kind of Hell wondering why I'm the one who was forced to be left behind to live another day. Life definitely starts to feel like less of a "gift" when your loved ones leave you down here.

This is one of my fav. songs ever, from one of the most brilliant musicians ever... First time I heard this (when I first found you, I went out and blindly bought all the albums I could find the money for) was when I was playing through all the albums I had bought, and I cried... I am usually not one to cry, but this song touched me, and sadly I can never show you where... Keep up the good work Voltaire, your music is unique and amazing!

That's the problem with fans, they often throw a shitfit when something isn't exactly what they want it to be. Black Metal is also my favourite genre but I love your music as well (and no I did not find it through this, a friend introduced me =p).
