Voltas Beko Dishwasher DF14S2 Real-world Test & Review

If you are planning to purchase a new dishwasher , this is probably all that you would need. This machine by far is the most technologically advanced dishwasher available in India. If the looks are OK for you , I can assure you that this machine can fully save you from hand washing your dishes ever again. The only thing is just that the usage is not straightforward say, load and turn on like a washing machine. But load if you load it correctly and choose the appropriate wash mode , then the machine can magically clean all your products and even give them an extra sparkle. Also the German brands in our market sell us extremely overpriced dishwashers with rather obsolete looks, smaller place setting for this price segment and miss out on the full stainless steel bottom panel. After using this product continuously for the last 3 weeks , I feel like this is a well engineered product and the only con is that It is unable to hold plates that have fairly large diameter since it obstructs the path of the top spray arm. Also the Aqua Intense feature is one KILLER feature which you will appreciate if you are planning to use fairly heavy dishes with a large amount of soiling and staining in them. Somewhat heavy dishes are to be placed in the zone where the Aqua Intense spray arm will be acting upon as the higher pressure jet can catapult light glasses and containers and cause them to fall to the bottom of the dishwasher and thereby reduce the cleaning performance of the wash cycle. Used correctly , it can save you ton of time and reduce your exposure to strong chemicals which are used in traditional handwashing. Here , most of the cleaning is done by pressurized hot water and comparatively less cleaning is done by the detergents. Also water usage is very low as compared to traditional handwashing.

So far no breakdowns...Performance is more than adequate for me....Installation was done by me itself as the steps are similar to that of any automatic washing machine...I never had to contact the service person so far.

Does this model have steam and fan for drying? Does it resume the same time after powercut or restarts from the beginning?

This model have 'steam gloss' mode which is a steam based drying/sanitization mode which works fine....And yes , if you run a full cycle with drying (eg ECO mode) the vessels are almost completely dry (99% dry). Just you need to keep all utensils properly. Also you need to sort out your dishes and separate the ones that are not getting properly cleaned in your dishwasher. Reserve those large plates with extremely wide edges to handwashing as they will not even fit properly in the dishwasher. Also invest in some dishwasher compliant utensils after some time from the purchase. The dishwasher resumes from powercut without any hitch. A great feature this one has is that when the tank runs empty , the system will stop and show the alarm code on the LCD , but as soon as we turn on the pump , and water reaches the tap , the dishwasher will AUTO RESUME its operation without any further Alarms or notifications. This is a feature that I miss in my samsung washing machine , which require me to manually resume the cycle after an alarm.

You will have to use salt for the first time. If you are using soft water , like a muncipality water supply , then you wont have to fill the salt chamber often. The salt inside the salt reservoir wont get consumed. It will just act like an additional filter for say removing remaining minerals from the water. The water in my home is very soft but still have a tiny amount of mineral content. Therefore , I think I will not have to refill the salt for atleast 5 years. My cousin in Banglore said he refills his salt chamber every 3 to 4 months as he have hard water in his area. So in your case , you wont have to refill the salt chamber for a long long time , until the machine prompts you with an 'S' indication🙂@@cute_cupcake9485

Dear Ms Smitha , The water inlet pipe is the one which you can see at time 0:10 of the video whose one end is connected to the tap with a screw adaptor just like in a washing machine. The other end of the water inlet pipe , unlike in a washing machine , is connected to a threaded connector at the bottom of the dishwasher (In case of most front load washing machines , the connection is usually at the rear top side of the washing machine). Its because of this hidden position , the other side of the water inlet pipe is not visible in the video. And we do not have to fill water manually. The water filling , heating , washing , water softening , detergent & rinse aid dispensing, draining and drying are all fully automated. We only want to choose an appropriate program number on the keypad based on our cleaning requirement and that will get our job done🙂

Planning to get a dishwasher , is voltas better when compared to Bosch and LG?

Dear Sreelakshmi , Nice to hear about your plan to purchase a dishwasher. I also had to experience the same dilemma during my initial days , researching about the dishwashers available in our market. Based on my extended research , I came to the conclusion that Voltas Beko dishwasher with its Full Stainless Steel Interior, Solid Build Quality , useful features , thoughtfully designed wash cycles and long track record In Europe (Where the equivalent model Number is DFN28R22) , can easily trump other brands in our market hands down. In case of Bosch/Siemens , the place settings are low and most lack full stainless steel interior. The price of Bosch models have also increased significantly post Covid Lockdown. In case of LG , the prices are fairly high and I think in terms of features , both this model and the LG DFB424FP are comparable. The only issue with the LG is that it do not have a proper Power Off Resume feature which can be a deal breaker for most of the Indian customers since our power supply system is susceptible to power cuts every now and then. For true Steam from LG , we have the Steam Gloss in Voltas Beko. For the Quad Wash , we have the Aqua Intense. This model don't have the IOT / Wifi connectivity , nor does it comes with the Auto Door Open Feature or Aqua Stop. But still , since the cost of ownership for the DF14S2 is lower , and since the absence of these features wont affect the everyday operation and utility of the dishwasher, you can very easily forget them. Also the LG dishwasher is marketed with an inverter direct drive motor with 10 year warranty , where the Voltas Beko provides 12 year warranty on its inverter motor. Also the 3rd rack cutlery drawer marketed in some dishwasher models ,I think wont be useful of a feature in Indian conditions and I never felt the need of one anyway as there is more than enough space to put your cutlery and Thawas in this dishwasher in the form of foldable plastic holders and a removable cutlery basket. Don't be fooled by the brand names. If you are planning to buy a dishwasher , Voltas Beko is definitely the best brand in the Indian Market . If you have ever thought of Voltas dishwasher as something inferior to Bosch / LG , its time to change your perspective all together. The truth is that no other dishwashers in the price bracket of about 60K don't stand a chance against this 37.5K Voltas Beko dishwasher in terms of cleaning performance due to the Aqua-Intense Technology. If you need maximum cleaning performance , just choose Intense mode and that will get your job done😊.

Better use a table top model (8 place setting models) if you are living in a rented house as they are easy to install and carry around due to more manageable weight. The disadvantages are lower place settings and lack of aqua intense spray arm, Which are rather less important most of the time for a small family. They are also half the price of this model and offers similar cleaning performance for everyday dish washing operations.

@@karna6651 You better contact your electrician for the earthing. The water inlet connection is similar to most automatic washing machines in the market and do not use any special adapters. The outlet of the machine has a pump and is not gravity drained and therefore require the outlet pipe to be at least half a meter above the floor level for proper operation(These details are mentioned in the user manual).

Yes , we use the rinse aid and salt along with the tablet. But both rinse aid dispensing and salt regeneration settings are set on the lowest possible setting as our water is very soft. Now we are mostly using the powder detergent as it is cheaper and more suitable for locations with soft water🙂

Can i install diswasher far from sink???

Absolutely. I have installed it far away from our sink. Modern dishwashers don’t need the dishes to be soaked in a sink or even per rinsed under a tap. But still if your load is low , you should pre rinse all the dirty dishes using the 15 minute pre rinse mode of the dishwasher to prevent bad smell from accumulating inside the dishwasher. Say you will only have a full load by night time , then after lunch load all the lunch time plates and cookware WITHOUT ANY PRE SOAKING OR PRE RINSING in to the dishwasher , close the machine and run the 15 minutes pre wash cycle. Then in the night time before going to bed , just load all the dinner utensils and once all the dishes of the day are loaded , run a full wash cycle with detergent. This way , there is no need a sink to wash your dishes. Only the non dishwasher safe utensils need to be washed in a sink. I hope your doubt is cleared😊
