When you choose which adapter you will use, you have to know the size of the mounting ring in your microscope. The szmctv 1/2 has a 28 mm diameter and the new 0.5 x adapter has a 38 mm diameter. Depending on the age of your microscope, you will have a different size camera mounting tube.

Good to hear you found a solution, even though Banggood was unable to fix the problem. It's sad to hear you had to buy extra components to fix a (most likely) defective product, but I hope you can appreciate the learning experience (on optics an what not) you had to go through during troubleshooting.

It's a bit concerning how they sell a microscope with a camera that is useless and even if you get a replacement camera you would probably still need an optical 0.5x adapter. I hope this videos will help people looking to buy a microscope to just get the right stuff from the beginning.

Excellent! BUT, a 1/2.3" sensor a 0.35x is best: (this ali express: 1005002615881356) Spacer's are required when using CS-Mount-products with C-Mount Cameras: • Raising your lens helps bc the C-mount's focal-plane is 1.4x a CS mount's. • Ali express vendors happily sell same adapters as compatible for BOTH. Tried posting a diagram showing the different 'offsets' from the lens-to-sensor... (perhaps links are disabled or youtube's algo is afraid I'll offend a protected class) • The C-mount's focal plane is 17.56mm • vs. CS-mount's focal plane, which is 12.50mm The _focal plane_ is the distance the sensor needs to be to resolve focused-images. Again, I'd demonstrate with an image _the relationship between sensor size & crop-factor..._ But, links get my comments deleted. (sorry) Your video really helped me figure out how I'd solve these typical issues. Thanks!! If you want the images / links to them, my email is TrumanHW ... and google's mail. (youtube's getting as bad as eBay)

Hello I recently purchased an Amscope CL-SM-3T-V203 microscope. I have watched some of your videos about microscopes, and camera mountings. I wanted purchase a .035 or a 0.5X C-mount Camera adapter for my microscope, but I cannot seem to find one that is compatible. I contacted the people at Amscope and they did not seem to know what I was talking about. The camera mounting port on my microscope is 28mm. nonthreaded. Would you be able to recommend a camera adapter? Thanks, Michael

I actually think the wide body 0.35x is the best option. I don't think the wide body adapters have better optics per say what they have is less distortion/focus around the edges because the SZM adapters are kinda like a fisheye lens. So the SZM 1/2 actually gives significantly more field of view than the 0.5x wide body. In my testing it actually provided the best field of view while also filling the screen, but personally I was not a fan of the distortion. The 0.5x wide body is just way too zoomed in and my least favorite of the bunch. The 0.35x wide body however doesn't have the edge distortion/focus problem of SZM 1/3, and while tunnel vision is still present it should be reduced. Granted I don't have a SZM 1/3 to do a side by side comparison. But based on my side by side comparisons of the SZM 1/2 and the wider 0.5x, and just general understanding of lenses, I am fairly certain this is true. Granted if you are just using it to take photos and take the time to make sure everything is in frame the wide body 0.5x is probably the best option. But if you are using the HDMI feed to inspect boards or are trying to accurately record what you are seeing through the eyepieces, I think the wide body 0.35x is the way to go. Then again if you really hate vignetting and aren't bothered by distortion, maybe the SZM 1/2 is best. They all have their pros and cons, but personally I think the 0.35x wide body is the best overall. And on a side note the 5mm c-cs mount adapter worked for me on the wide body lenses, but did not work on the SZM 1/2 had to use a 1 or 2mm adapter to get the proper focal distance, although they were really more like washers than adapters (found them on aliexpress). Figured I would mention it just in case someone is like me where the 5mm adapter is too much and no adapter isn't enough. Either way, just some tips for anyone trying to figure out what to buy based on my experience. Wish someone would make the wide body version in like a 0.42x feel like that would be perfect. Either way I will probably use the 0.35X for board repair, and throw the 0.5x on for my girlfriend is she wants to use the microscope for macrophotography or something and probably never use the SZM 1/2 since I am personally not a fan of the fisheye effect.

You mention the 2 sony Sensor cameras... I am tempted to bite the bullet and get one of those to have a great image and Auto Focus. This question is more about fitment. Would the sony be a direct bolt up or would you still want a .5 lens and adaptor. I agree the manuals provided are garbage.

You would still need an adapter, consult with the seller for the recommended adapter.

About the camera socket: there should be 3 screws on the new and old one, can't we just replace that piece and use the new type of camera adapter?
@voltlog4 жыл бұрын
That would have to be tested to see if the pieces fit mechanically first and then if they maintain the same focal distance. The risk is that you somehow manage to mechanically install it but you can't get it into focus.
