Right now it's 2020. CoVid19 or whatever it's called is attacking the globe. I am a high risk, heart disease and lung disease. So I am home quarrantined. Hoping and PRAYING I stay healthy. Yes!!!! Hours and hours were spent pouring over that Sears catalog! I would fold the corners of the pages where I saw things I wanted. I remember one year I actually got the little oven and cake mixes (not easy bake, but similar). That was the most amazing thing to me. I baked so many mini cakes!

Oh my goodness this brings back so much memory when I was a young kid / teenager like seriously. I used to enjoy and love watching these commercials during the holiday seasons. I miss watching them they used to play them like crazy at one time during the holiday season & now they don't what a shame. Old-time classical Christmas commercials how much I miss watching these. Big time I wish they would still play them. Especially during the holiday season but you know that's never going to happen.

It's kinda sad how a company like Sears in these commercials back in the day was as big as Walmart and EVERYONE shopped there, yet nowadays there closing stores left and right and are bout to close up for good due to bankruptcy. I worked for sears for a few years back and you can tell it has changed a great deal, how sad some superstores don't last or want to change with the times.

I want to go back and do it all over ...I am telling you the 70’s and 80’s were my decades and they were the best years of my life. Those decades were quite possibly the last best decades in America. One has to understand that America was absolutely a different place back then. It was still a treat back then to get 25 cents from mom and walk uptown to the gas station to get a Coca-Cola or Pepsi or to the ice cream shop and get a CMP ice cream. We truly did not lock our doors and stayed out till after dark with our bikes during the summer. On Halloween we all went trick-or-treating in the cold dark nights and it was great fun. In the summer we played outside all day until dark, The only way my mom got us home to eat was a big brass bell she had outside the sliding glass doors that she would ring to get our attention to come home for dinner. I remember wonderful 4th of July celebrations when mom took us to the ball park and we laid on blankets to watch the fireworks and went on many picnics to the state parks hanging out swimming all day. And of course, Christmas and even though it was tuff for my mom raising us she always made sure we had a great holiday . Even Easter was special in America back then... as we got older we started to go see the movies and we really did have the best movies. We had the best TV as well. Falcon Crest, Dallas, Knots Landing, Dynasty,The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, The Six Million dollar man, The Dukes of Harzard, BJ and the Bear, Air Wolf, Battle Star Galactica! Knight Rider and for the first time ever the motion pictures of, Star Wars, Star Trek, Superman, Spider Man, Close Encounters of the third kind, E.T., Poltergeist, Jaws, Friday the 13th, Aliens, (No not the ones being aloud to just walk into our country right now in 2023), Predator and many more… We also celebrated the bicentennial in the 70’s when the entire country celebrated it from Apr 1, 1975 - Jul 4, 1976. It was like the 4th of July every day. It was fantastic!.…it was such a better time to be alive in this county. We never had the problems that are here today. It was unheard of for kids being shot and men walking around dressed as women. It was the last of America and we were lucky to have experienced it. We had real holidays were we all got together and enjoyed each other’s company. We ate dinner every night together and talked not shouted at each other. We had great stores that are all but gone now in 2023 and great movie theaters and of course the MALLS! It was not the 80’s without a Mall. My very first few jobs were at the mall. First Macdonald’s and then The Gap!. Yes sir those days were GREAT! and we were very lucky to have lived them and we did it all without stupid social media, and computers in our pockets that has destroyed our society. Today I don’t even see kids outside and everyone is in fear for safety from crazy people.... I don’t recognize America now..God Bless us all ! (If you can even say that anymore).
