Thanks Mike. At least they designed it to be fairly accessible.

That thing is really cool. What a lucky find!

It's a very nice piece of equipment. The sad thing is, nowadays, unless you can connect it to the internet and speak to it, people don't want it.
@vhfgamer7 ай бұрын
@@PhilipBryden I want it specifically because it doesn't connect to the internet or have a microphone :D

Great fix. It sounds great. Denon is excellent quality audio. I remember using Denon CD cart players when I worked in radio in the early 1990s.

It's nicely built inside. What did you do in radio?
@yanghao83517 ай бұрын
@@PhilipBryden I started as an on-air operator (pre-computer automation early 90s). I would Play music via Denon CD carts, and use Reel to Reel tapes for the pre-recorded announcer breaks and commercial breaks. Then I was a radio announcer for a few years after that.

I googled CD carts. Why does the CD have to be in a case? Just to protect it?
@yanghao83517 ай бұрын
@@PhilipBryden The cart idea was not new in radio in the 90s. For years they used tape carts for 30/60 second advert spots (called Fidelipac and they look like 8 track tapes). Along with protecting the CD, the CD cart was easy to use. Just put it into the cart machine dial up the track and push play.

Hows it going young man, i love these old stereos from back in the day, todays versions just dont compete.
@PhilipBryden7 ай бұрын
I'm good thanks Matthew. Like I said in the video, this one is surprisingly heavy for it's size. It's a shame I don't have a use for it. The older stuff looks better too IMO.

I bought a Kenwood stereo amp years ago, sounds great and still works as it did when I first bought it. I'm going to look out for Hi Fi stuff.

@@PhilipBryden good on you, the old classic equipment is the best, you might be lucky and get an old valve amp one day 😁
@PhilipBryden7 ай бұрын
I probably would pass on the old valve stuff, can you actually buy replacement valves? They're probably cost a small fortune.

Thanks for this video. I used it to get inspiration for fixing the volume knop on a Denon DRA-F101 receiver with a similar problem. My solution was to remove all existing lubricant instead of putting in new. Worked really fine too.

That's great to hear, glad it helped someone. Thank you for leaving a comment, it makes working on the videos worthwhile.

been looking why the pots leak or oily outside and have issues, its got tobe down to the original oil has gone and clogs contacts inside
@PhilipBryden14 күн бұрын
Yeah, I suppose all oils and lubricants break down over time. Thankfully it wasn't too much trouble to re-lube this one.
