Thank you for sharing the truth. I’m right outside of Asheville and just want to clarify that the actual hurricane itself didn’t get to us until Friday morning so Thursday night when the worst most tragic rain and landslides had already happened people were already displaced, traumatized and in survival mode the hurricane arrived on top of an already devastated area and our people. Any normal safe space a person would go to in order to shelter from a storm were GONE or already damaged from flooding and landslides. So Friday when the winds came along with more rain the tree roots were so saturated they just laid down on top of whatever was in their path. Then the tornados or so called “micro bursts” ripped and shredded entire areas of trees, tore off roofs and more. It was days of trauma, not mere hours but days of devastation. Flash flooding is labeled as flash because that is how the water rises in a flash in areas that are out of flood zones and not in a “normal” flash flood warning areas. Places away from creeks and rivers were destroyed.

I live in one of the disaster areas in WNC. 15 minutes away from Bat Cave NC. Complete devastation continues in WNC. My friends house was moved out of foundations in Fairview NC. What this man is saying is true. The man burried by the neck story is true. One of my patients is a firefighter who helped with that rescue. 5 minutes away from us, a man lost 11 family members in mud slides. Swananoa is like Hiroshima.

I lived in the heart of that hurricane.. We and all my neighbors came out alive without much damage . There were huge trees that were downed in the micro tornadoes. Those little tornadoes seemed to have been held back because it was like the angels of God steered them away from hitting homes directly. A door was blown off my home but there was no damage to the immediate area of my home. My neighbors within a half mile of me had no damage to their homes but the huge trees surrounding them came down. We had no warning that the hurricane was going to be that powerful. My younger neighbors were out checking on us old folks. It took awhile for the water to go down on the main roads and we were able to get out. I saw things I never want to see again. The community and folks from away worked tirelessly to restore our electricity and after 13 days we were able to have heat and hot food. I thank God that were are OK and ask blessings for the people who worked so hard to restore some order.

The comment that the Lord will not give us more than we can handle is so true. Yet when I was a young mother single I was told that and it made me angry. Nobody had qualified that statement and I thought God a liar. He will not give us more than we can handle WITH HIS GUIDANCE AND POWER! When I realized that, the anger left and the trust in God, His guidance, power, comfort and peace was more than welcome. God is certainly good all the time.

@@Michael65429and then the fires in California and the aviation catastrophes etc etc It’s inevitable that the news coverage moved on. In 2010 when my entire town was flooded out by levees breached and 13 inches of rain in less than two hours, my home also flooded (many many homes flooded!because I lived not too far from a creek), I don’t believe we got any news coverage beyond one day & everyone just helped each other to the best of their ability. Friends of mine raised $500 for me simply by doing a garage sale. I had about 10 neighbors in my house when the rain finally stopped with Wet-Vacs & that helped. There’s other blessings from God that seemed to fall like manna from heaven all through that time period. The creek banks had been not maintained & fallen trees, wood etc impeding the flow to some degree even before this thousand year flood as they called it. I moved to another state in 2019 but 11 years later a flood came again and ravaged my former home. The people who owned the home repaired it and I don’t know what else, but things are back to normal from the looks of things. However I’m not sure the creek is being taken care of or not. I pray it is.

Not true. I live here. The dams were not opened but a flood mitigation system did what it was designed to, it released SOME of the water. Either that or the dams would fail and release all the water. It was either release some of the water or have it all, billions of gallons of water, come all at once.

Will the company that released the water be held accountable for any of this? It’s imperative to note that they did not have sufficient water by ways to handle that load of water coming through all at once. There should have been efficient arroyos or canals for this mass load of water to be released. They added to the disaster

Volunteers are probably going to be the main force of help. The ones who actually should not help are government, they are actually doing the area a favor when they back off and instead of helping turn off the regulations for the recovery time which is unknown. After recovery is achieved government should return the reasonable regulations gradually and only where it can be achieved because even when they can declare recovery there will be areas that are not ready to take on government interference.
