Not a mechanic by any stretch, but you made that very easy. Can not thank you enough. Liked, and subscribed. Proud new owner of a 86 240 wagon. Wish me luck!

I suggest that you also make note on both the fuel pump and the filter with the date of replacement and/or mileage. A permanent Sharpie marker usually works pretty well.

That’s a great idea, I do that with my oil filters to keep track but I will start doing that with the fuel filter too now thanks

Every so often at" Pic a Part" I find a 240 or 940, with a brand new main fuel pump assembly,and I got lucky 2 months ago,brand new "Bosch pump& filter both including the assembly, unbolt 3 bolts& paid $36.00 and change& done in 30 minutes( even left mileage done & under 400 miles.I live near 50 miles or less for 5 places.Saved a ton of money too! Kinda wished I bought an engine with 82 thousand miles,on a 1994 Volvo "940" but hate,the distributor in the back of valve cover.

That’s great! keep a spare cradle around in case I need to do a fuel pump, they’re really easy to swap out once you have the new one all set up and ready to go

Great video! Just a quick comment, DO NOT reuse the washers, there's a lot of pressure in the system, it is pretty normal to need to adjust those connections REALLY hard, I bathed myself in fuel a couple of times after turning the engine on for not being hard on the connections ... Regards, Nacho.

Good advice, I hate to say that I’ve reused the washers in the past before, and it’s never been a problem, but I always replace them when I can

Did you check the rubber o rings that hold the fuel filter and the fuel pump on the metal frame usually after certain time it is good to replace them, I know ,once those rubber o rings cracked they will start to bang all over.
@240rescue2 жыл бұрын
Yes the rubber isolators that hold the filter and pump to cradle are crucial and I have had to replace them in the past

Great video Chris! Thanks for taking your time to make it! Didn't touch this part of my car yet. Who knows when was the last time fuel filter was replaced😅
@240rescue2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yes it’s important, hard to tell sometimes with when the filter was gone, but the stock under car filters usually have some amount of stock undercoating sprayed onto it
@brockingram84002 жыл бұрын
Where did you buy the replacements?
@240rescue2 жыл бұрын
Replacements can be sourced through most auto chains, I don’t think dealers stock anymore, iPD, fcpeuro, and rockauto have all had decent brands

My current is a 92 240 and it doesn't start until around 1-3 in the afternoon once it's warmed and dried a bit. We tried dry gas and checking the spark plugs. We're thinking it could be a clogged filter putting extra force on the main pump so I'm replacing both tomorrow morning
@240rescue2 жыл бұрын
Good luck! It could also be a bad coolant temp sensor for temperature related issues or a damp distributor cap for humidity related issues, check themtoo and see if there’s any codes on the obd

Great video!👍 Are you still converting this to lh 2.2 fuel system?
@240rescue2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, this 88 is already 2.2 stock, but on my 80 242, I will likely convert it

Waiting for that video. I want to convert my 1982 240 k jet system to a more reliable fuel system. I hope you can show that video. Keep up the good videos👍

my 84 240 GL has a sluggish start it cranks for like 5 seconds and when it starts it shuts off sometimes, it runs better after i rev it and let it warm up could it be the pump? its alittle loud and i never changed the filter
@240rescue2 жыл бұрын
It could be the lift pump failing or failed, they’re very easy to check out, but I have found the 83-84 cars if LH2.0 alway took a few seconds longer to crank and start
@Sulaimaanhr2 жыл бұрын
@@240rescue yea I changed the intank pump about 2 years ago so I'll start with the filter today
