@@Wasmachineman I'm not following. Stiffer rebound resists allowing the suspension to extend. For the front on launch that is exactly what I want as to not trasnfer too much weight to rear (whole car levels out) so both the front and rear wheels are doing work.

Props on loading the suspension before tightening the controls arm bushings, most ppl miss that. I'm a mechanic, I use loctite on the hub bolts and the brake brackets never anti seize. Not the kind of thing you want coming loose. Plus the anti sieze allows for greater torque than indicated.. The manufacturers use a loctite on these bolts. The medium loctite seals the threads and prevents seizing from rust. Backing plate bolts for sure I'd use the anti seize
@SimplyVolvo3 жыл бұрын
All Volvo OEM bolts (which are what I buy) that need thread locker come with red thread locker already applied to the bolt like the brake bracket bolts. Those are pretty much the only bolts in the suspension that aren't TTY. The hub bolts do not come with thread locker applied and Volvo does not say in VADIS to apply any. You do not need it because they are TTY. With a TTY fastener you cannot under or over tighten it. Thats the whole point so applying anti seize does not cause over torquing and a TTY fastener will not magically come loose. Wheel bearing bolts - TTY Strut hub bolts - TTY Control arm subframe bolts - TTY Control arm balljoint bolts - TTY + Nylon Endlinks - Nylon nut Outer tie rod nut - Nylon nut Bracket brackets - Red thread lock
@jeremyr71473 жыл бұрын
@@SimplyVolvo It's general practice when working on every kind of vehicle, in a shop, not to use anti seize on the hub bolts, that's why I cringed. It's true not all vehicles are torque to yield bolts. But volvo also doesn't use anti-seize on the bolts, so there is that, lol.. Great build by the way, I was catching up on the last few I missed.

Matt have you considered sending your wheel bearings in to Ben to have them modified for different bolt patterns? It'd greatly open up your options for lighter/cooler wheels. Also I'm not sure if the Ceika 6 pistons you're looking at are designed to fit under your current setup, but different wheels would help fit larger brakes without the need for spacers.
@SimplyVolvo3 жыл бұрын
The Volvo 17" titans are the coolest wheels around and I will do whatever it takes to keep those on the car. Ceika has a 6 pot 304mm setup that I am looking at but am most likely going to go the P1 320mm setup or honestly just keep the 280s which work fine. Big brakes are only needed for repeated braking which isnt a thing in drag / roll racing.

@SimplyVolvo3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can get all the bolts (kits shown here include them too). I don't have big brakes because I want to retain the factory 17" titan wheels... also with drag racing / roll racing brake fade isnt a concern. You accelerate once and brake once.

@@SimplyVolvo I know what you mean about keeping the standard wheels. I want to fit big breaks to my 850R (currently used as a daily), but want to keep the factory Volans. @@trevorockwell8764 If I do decide to do a front brake kit I think I am just going to go with the kit for the P1 320mm calipers. My dads 11 C70 has them and they bite really well.
