Quick DIY to flush power steering system on a volvo vnl. I do this every 150k miles on a fleet I work for. At the end I show the size of house I use

Why does it say ATF D/M transmission fluid? Shouldn’t be power steering fluid?

So do you pour the fluid in while the engine is running so it won’t go dry?

How important is the heat exchanger on the power steering? Mine was leaking so i bypassed it for now. Is it necessary to replace? So far the steering feels better without the heat exchanger or cooler connected.

You take out filter with oil in there. Then you put in the house, start the truck shut it down and let it drain?

My steering wheel make a noise when I turn it even a little is that normal? Sounds like the same noise when you max the wheel all.the way left or right.

After you empty the reservoir you add fresh fluid and the old filter. Start the engine and move the steering wheel left and right to move the fresh fluid through the lines and pump. Repeat this process again. Empty the fluid reservoir two to three times. Do this until the fresh fluid is now being drained out, then discard the old filter and put in the new filter. Fill again the last time with fresh fluid and your system is now pumping clean fluid for easier steering.
