Unfortunately, that's a high pressure area. The coolant or seawater runs about 25psi maybe 30. The good news is if it ever starts to leak again, you can remove the coolant system cap and replace it only half way so it doesn't build as much pressure. But I don't suggest relying on that as having a reliable engine is absolutely critical, especially if your docking skills aren't great. Good to see you trying though, I always say all you need is tools, courage, and someone to call if you get stuck. So keep up the good work!

She looks great mate! Well done. Its a good idea to put a couple of coats of epoxy on the ply used for backing plates otherwise they rot in a couple of years(not sure if you did or not)

Really pleased that you didn't follow the advice to replace that engine, with a little regular maintenance (like you have done to fix the leak) it should provide all the power and reliability that you need for years to come. At some point you should plan to lift it out and have someone TIG weld the crack for a more permanent fix (or even replace the cracked housing, i believe parts availability is still good for these engines). Obviously you are in the best position, as ship's captain, to make the right decision long term. 👍👍👍

That engine has a anode which is held in place by a square plug behind the alternator. Has this been changed recently. Also the thermostat in the top front of the engine is made up of a mix of metals. In sea water they are good for say 10 years and then corrode to a horrible mess. That would definitely be worth changing before you set off. We have a Moody 31 just round the corner from you btw.

next time your engine block leaks-sand the crack, work it a bit with a dremel tool and as some welder to weld it, it will be basically new rn im wheesing from the comment of that "Enineer" who said that the block is finished, he eitther an idiot or wanted to fool you for alottamony also you are supposed to change oil on the WARM engine, its easier this way and you get no chance of bursting your pump
