Very helpful video. Easy to follow. My only question is while I was doing the replacement I noticed the black seal is leaking. I wanted to replace it but not sure how to get it out…. Should I just use a screw drivers d pry it out?

There is an O-ring in a groove inside the transmission's axle sleeve that can be damaged and will leak if you're not careful when pulling out or inserting the inner axle joint.

2008 s40 2.4i fwd m56 5 speed. The driver side axle is pretty hard to pull out. I had to go to Volvo to get a little tool and screw to slowly push it out the transmission. Also I wasn’t able to find anyone else selling an axle for a decent price aside from AutoHAUZ and autozone. Dealer was asking way too much ($700).so far so good the axle is doing fine so far and it was only $140. Will try to keep y’all updated on how well this aftermarket axle does.

If you have the automatic version or the AWD version you might be able to find parts on fcpeuro which I would recommend personally since their stuff is usually on par with oem but cheaper. I counter find mine so I had to go with autozone.

Once I had to pull out a spline shaft from an other Volvo transmission and in fact it was quite difficult. Concerning the CV joint, two years ago, I spoke with someone I met, about his aftermarket LHS CV joint assembly on his 2006 S40 2.4i fwd. The replacement was done about 95000 Km before I met him and he was still satisfied with the product, but, I don't know where he got it.

today on highway, driving over 80 km/h, I have a constant vibration from the accelerator pedal. what could be the cause of that? car is perfect on idle and when driving in the city.. 2007 volvo s40. I'm thinking of the engine mount or the front axles ..

It could be a front inner CV joint. If the rollers of the tripod spider are in contact with damaged roller tracks, it can vibrate over 80 km/h while accelerating.
