Hi Guys, Hopefuylly you can help me out on this one. I cannot understand why the lights do this. Thanks for all your help.

The symbols on those buttons SHOULD be backlit. Maybe a loose connection behind the dash at a guess...

Thanks Dave. I'll look into it. I'll be taking it out soon to fit my new parrot kit. Any idea why the less don't light at night unless I dim the back lighting?

I have a good question: how did you get your dash clock to read in 24-hour time format?

I did not do anything. It was that way when I got the car. I was not aware it could be any different. But knowing Volvo I would assume it's programmable at the dealership or of you know somebody that has access to VIDA.

Sorry, I have no idea about your lights, but I would like to know the year of your s60.

+gordon hi Gordon, it is a late 2004 but it's the facelift with all the ford electronics and all the electrical gremlins fixed. So it's classed as a 2005 model year.

Interesting. I have the 2004 as well,(left hand drive), but the dash is different. I don't have the metallic edge around the audio and environmental controls.

gordon It may be because of the spec. Mine is the SE spec and has the silver trim along with other additions. I know the earlier 2004 model (pre-facelift) has a very bare looking centre stack. You can tell the difference in the two by the outside. The headlights are the big give away. The pre facelift has glass lenses and the indicator is right at the outside edge of the lens. On the facelift model the headlights lens is plastic and the indicators are round and all the lights appear separate in the lens.

Volvo is very purely engineered. ....all aspects of it....starting from basic maintenance, PCV valve come to mind and ending with climate control and light adjustments. Reliability is horrific, repair is astronomically expansive. ...Never again I would own Volvo! !!!!...

Stnl N2. Better owners would disagree... all the better Euro makes have a different approach.

Really Happenings We have expression "keep it simple stupid" It takes 9 minutes to replace PCV valve on Lexus 300 as an example. Literally 9 min. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h57SdJualJZro7M It takes 3+hours for Volvo kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6atpnuJoN1sh5o Just look at this stupidity. ..but the problem is...You have to pay for it too.....and than cross your fingers that the auto mechanic is doing it right too... No.... I'll never going to get another Volvo.... There is the reason why Volvo depreciate like a rock..... reliability and cost of parts and labour just astronomical.

Well I maintain two family Volvos, 11 and 16 years old, doing most of the work myself. It was a learning curve at first of course, but as these cars will likely remain in the family for decades, it's worth it. Everything in life is easy -- once you know how to do it. But it's impossible if you don't. For ultra-long term ownership I do believe they're one of the best.

Jason Rivero Yeah. ...sure....one weekend working on Volvo vs 10 min replacing it on Toyota. ...... There's the reason Toyota is doing very well and Volvo had to be sold to Chinese fot nothing.
