So glad to finally see FCP talking about and creating Volvo 2.0 videos. These new videos will come in handy for repairs and maintenance on my '18 V90. I hope the P3 repair video library continues to grow. You always had a great assortment of P2 videos that I watched to help me keep my P2 V70 & S60 on the road. I have been a customer for 20 years now.

Just completed job. Great video. Couldn't have done it without it. One note: i used a Maddox vacuum filler from Harbor Freight. For the air source, i used my Craftsman 3 gallon, 125 psi compressor. It pulled 25"of vacuum with no problem. Used about 1 to 1-1/2 gallons of coolant for a refill. Maddox product worked great with cone adaptor in reservoir. Cover little vent slit with duct tape. My volvo is 2016 XC60 2.0 turbo.

I just recently replaced the thermostat on my wife's 2015 V60. I was able to replace it without taking the intake manifold off. Took the alternator off and went in from that side. Pulled the alt. out the top as well. It takes a little doing but you don't have to replace the intake gasket. Looks like the water pump will come out as well without removing the intake. If your replacing both at the same time and you remembered to order the intake gasket then yes it looks a little simpler to go that route. And if you don't have access to a vacuum pump apparatus then after refilling the coolant start the engine and run it till the temp gage shows normal temp. Go and squeeze the upper and lower radiator hoses. It take a couple of times to do this so be patient. Of course if you have access to all the equipment in the video that again is the better way to go. I just saying that I is possible to do these repairs without removing the intake manifold. And don't for get to top off the coolant reservoir.

Thanks a lot for "highly recommending" the vacuum coolant refill. I had some engine overheating problem and no heat problem with my 2015 S60 3-4 months after a shop replaced one of the coolant hoses due to leaking coolant. They further recommendated to replace the radiator for almost $2K after they did a coolant pressure test. I decided not to take their advice and found out later that was actually due to some air trapped in the coolant system. After I filled the coolant under vacuum, the heat came back and no engine overheating anymore.

Hello, good morning, the same thing happens to me and I changed the thermostat, water pump, chamber gasket, temperature sensor, PCV valve and my car, Volvo S60 T5 2015, the temperature keeps rising, I'm going to change the vacuum coolant, thank you very much.

Great job. It is a pleasure watching you fellows work. For those attempting this project on their own, it would be wise to block off the intake ports with rags while you work on replacing the water pump, and the thermostat housing.

I just got this done at the dealership. This is not as bad as I thought it would be. Great video! I really have been enjoying the videos on the P3 FCP has made. Keep them coming.

Nice video! Maybe it's just me but I'm really impressed by the quality of the parts in there. Almost an aircraft vibe compared to an older P2.

Ahh yes. The classic Volvo quirk. "Want to touch the engine? Take the intake manifold off." Some things I noticed: 1. That green clip is like a large Ford fuel line clip where you just push to open once you take the lock out of it. 2. You say the 2016 models had the electronic thermostat. Did they keep the electronic section through the run until the new cars or did they delete it?

What is the hose called that you removed the coolant line from at 3:06
@Renew6026 күн бұрын
So when doing this are there any other hoses which have had failure issues and warrant replacement while doing this job?

Gracias

Been putting off re sealing my vacuum pump with new gaskets in my 08 s80 t6. Completely unrelated to this but would you consider a diy video for that?

Do i need to do all of this to replace the collant hose that is going under the water pump? The one made of plastic and is keeping failing

I have a 2017 VOLVO XC60 T6 AWD R design with that 2.0 engine. I recently had to drive to Mississippi, Dallas, Tx and back to New Mexico. One of the brittle vent lines for coolant snapped and leaked (poor design and cheap materials (7 years old) and a coolant hose with a plastic female end adapter with nipple for vent line also snapped due to being brittle. I replaced both immediately. My question is: does VOLVO or FCPEURO sell a complete coolant hose and vent line kit so all rubber and plastics are replaced at the same time? I know what it’s like being stranded on the highway and it’s no fun.

What is the correct gasket into the intake pipe. It looks like yours is black. The replacement one I got from the dealer is green and doesn't seem to fit properly. Does it come out of the package and go right in, or does it have to be twisted before inserting?. Such a pain. Thanks

So no download required for replaced the water pump ? Volvos can be funny like that. I know the throttle assy needs married to the cars multiplex network via SW download. I doubt the water pump has it but who knows? Thats why I'm asking

Someday there might be a good video on the 3.2/3.0 which is hella cramped, but I guess it has still not come to that day.
@football59392 жыл бұрын
Much easier than the 2.0 you just reach down and change the thermostat housing nothing else has to come off but the water pump on the other hand is behind the ps pump which is more involved

Does anyone know what is the correct running temperature of this Volvo Drive E engine ? I had a bad thermostat and it damage the ECU. Get both changed. i notice the radiator fan always run at full speed when engine reach operating temp of 105degC. Water pump always run at 5800rpm when engine at operating temp of 105degc and idling.

Does anyone know the normal working temperature of the coolant when the engine fully warm up? I had my thermostat changed, it always control at 102-105 degC, causing water pump always run at max speed of 5800rpm and fan at max speed too.

I just did a starter motor on my 2019 Volvo XC40 T5 R design. For this I had to remove a hose off my water pump and lost some coolant, on completion I bought a vacuum tool. For whatever reason I cannot get a vacuum. I undid plug as you show on radiator, and didn't get a lot of coolant out. I've put about a gallon in tank manually, but worry it's not around my system Can you help
@johnnywalker44098 ай бұрын
I was actually able to fill it. What I did was cut about an inch off the rubber cone that's part of the Maddox tool, it fit snug and drew about 20lbs steady even though my filler showed between max and min, I pulled in about 3/4 of a bottle and hoses squashed flat as they're supposed to, so feel confident it's full now
